At least 14 Missing Calls for Service in Cornwall Ontario POLICE BLOTTER including 3 SUDDEN DEATHS 012720 #CPS

Editor’s Note: As many of you who read our blotters know we have been asking the Cornwall Police to be more transparent. They have refused and in fact are now refusing to answer basic email queries from CFN.

Again, all CFN has asked for is what the SD&G OPP and Kingston Police does, which is furnish a list of calls for service so that we journalists, who are supposed partners with the police in communicating issues to the public, can do our very important jobs.

Here is a list of calls for service from their police map which you are not seeing in the blotter from the same posted period.

Below is what the CPS published today.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 24th, 2020 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on January 7th, the man assaulted her and police were contacted to investigate. On January 24th, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 24th, 2020 and charged with two counts of breach of recognizance for contacting his ex-girlfriend and attending her residence. It is alleged earlier this month, the man contacted his ex-girlfriend and attended her residence, despite his conditions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 24th, 2020, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on January 24th, 2020 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an altercation with her boyfriend, the woman assaulted him and police were contacted to investigate. On January 24th, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 18th, 2020. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 24th, 2020 and charged with domestic assault and forcible confinement. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend, the man assaulted her and prevented her from leaving an area of the residence. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 18th, 2020. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Brittany Howard-Markell, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on January 26th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on January 9th, 2020 for a drug offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On January 26th, 2020 she was taken into custody during a traffic stop. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on February 27th, 2020.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Roxanne Cook, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on January 26th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on January 14th, 2020 for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On January 26th, 2020 she was taken into custody during a traffic stop. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on February 27th, 2020.

BREACHES, POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

Cornwall, ON – Shonna Godfrey, 22, and Jeffrey Leblanc, 29, both of Cornwall, were arrested on January 26th, 2020 and charged with two counts of breach of court order for failing to abide by a curfew and being in contact with each other. The woman was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 26th, the man and woman were both observed in the company of each other, as well as outside of their residences during their curfew. An investigation ensued, and both individuals were taken into custody, at which time the woman was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine pills. They were each charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Brenton Dussard, 24, of Ottawa was arrested on January 26th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged in September 2018, the man took a motor vehicle that did not belong to him and a warrant was issued for is arrest. On January 26th, 2020, a member of the Cornwall Police Service met with the Ottawa Police Service, as the man was taken into custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court February 5th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Nerissa Leblanc, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on January 26th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000, assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 26th, 2020, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer, who she allegedly assaulted, and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

PERSONATION WITH INTENT TO AVOID ARREST, OBSTRUCT POLICE, DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 26th, 2020 and charged with personation with intent to avoid arrest, as well as obstruct police. He was also charged with three counts of breach of court order for contacting his girlfriend, being within a certain distance of her, and attending her residence. It is alleged on January 26th, 2020, the man was in his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and during the investigation, identified himself as somebody else by providing a false name to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Millicent Mellon, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on January 26th, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for consuming alcohol. It is alleged on January 26th, while police were responding to an unrelated matter, the woman was observed to have been consuming alcohol, despite her conditions. An investigation ensued and the woman was taken into custody. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

There were 118 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
