ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 30th, 2020 and charged with assault with a weapon, threats and breach of probation for possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 8th, 2020 while at the Cornwall Square the youth brandished a knife during an altercation and threatened to kill a person. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 30th, 2020 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000, RESIST ARREST

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Lalonde, 49 of Cornwall was arrested on March 30th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000 and resist arrest. It is alleged on March 30th, 2020 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed merchandise making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and taken into custody after a brief struggle. Police were contacted and charged the man accordingly. He was then released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Burles, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on March 30th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was in breach of his probation order for attending a Ninth Street store during the month of March. It is also alleged in the early morning hours of Marc h 30th, 2020 the man entered a Fourteenth Street business and took merchandise all the while indicating he had a knife. Police were contacted and during the investigation a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants during a traffic stop on March 30th, 2020 and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 31st, 2020 on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court. It’s alleged the man failed to attend court on January 21st, 2020 for a domestic related charge. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 31st, 2020 the man was located by police, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to attend court on June 9th, 2020. His name was not released as the matter stems from a domestic incident and may identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Richard Zeran, 51 of Cornwall was arrested on March 31st, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend for fingerprints on August 21st, 2019 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located in the early hours of March 31st, 2020 by a member of the Cornwall Police Service, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

There were 45 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release). 

Suspicious Fire – Request for Public Assistance

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) is requesting public assistance regarding a suspicious fire that occurred at 825 McConnell Avenue on March 27th, 2020 between midnight and 6:00 am.

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) is requesting public assistance regarding a theft that occurred at a Vincent Massey Drive business during the afternoon of February 29th, 2020.
