MARCH 8, 2021 – On television we see the lineups outside the COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Must be a cold wait for some people, seniors included.
Our vaccination clinic will be soon opening at the Civic Complex which is a big building and hopefully no one will have to wait outside because it is a very cold place right now with the wind off the river.
A suggestion for some of the 80+ senior’s vaccinations could be in the Seniors residences where they live as a supplement. There are many around Cornwall.
As an example, there are three senior residences between Third and Water streets on Augustus street with 350+ tenants at any given time. There is also another seniors residence around the corner at York and Water streets.
A small clinic could be set up in the lounge of each building and the shots given by a professional. The 80+ senior won’t have to worry about the cold, transportation, someone to take them or coming into contact with a lot of people right now. If you agree, please let Dr. Paul at the EOHU and our Mayor Clement and/or City Counsellors know.
The question ‘to be or not to be’ was would March come in like a lion or a lamb. It seemed in the morning of March 1st. not so bad but then, blowing snow for awhile here in Cornwall followed by freezing temperatures over night. Not exactly a lamb. So maybe…it will go out like a lamb. March weather can be anything. Let’s hope for that early spring.
March 14 begins Daylight Saving – spring ahead. March 20th is the first day of spring. Now, that has a nice ring to it.
A friend of mine’s two grandsons are in Beavers. As you can see in the photo on the left, Lachlan, 6 years old, is in uniform and ready for a virtual Beaver meeting. His brother Grayson, 8 years old, is all dressed up also in his Beaver uniform for the meeting. Look at all the badges on their uniforms. Their grandmother said they earned every one of them. Grayson is now moving into Cubs and will start again to earn badges.
Their parents are also involved which makes it a true family affair.
Besides virtual meetings during this COVI-19 period, they have also had a few outdoor hikes and tobogganing. The boys enjoying it all.
thanks so much for sharing this photo with us. Two handsome Beaver!!!
Limericks are fun. Here is a humorous one by Anonymous:
“There once was a young lady of Lynn
Who was so uncommonly thin
That when she essayed
To drink lemonade
She slipped through the straw and fell in.”
A snowbird relative in Florida sent an email one day saying that it was a beautiful sunny warm day, 80 degrees. At the moment here it was snowing and blowing. Talk about rubbing it in!! Recently she sent me this gorgeous photo of a Great Blue Heron.
What a beautiful bird. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
A reader sent in this cute joke:
You come from dust. You will return to dust. That is why I don’t dust. It might be someone I know.
Have a good week, Dawn
