DECEMBER 15, 2021 – The Jewish communities celebrated Hanukkah this year from November28th until December 6th. A Happy Hanukkah to all our Jewish friends.
Snow!!! Who wants snow??? I bet those skiers have been praying again and, of course, a few kids as well. It seems so cold. Brrrr. A few friends and I were talking about the old days when we would get up in the am, eat and get in our cars and head to work, snow or not. If it was snowing heavily I used to drive to St. Andrews and hit the Kings Road there on my way to St. Raphael’s to Mount Carmel House Treatment Centre. On Wednesday nights we had programs for the past residents and another for families. On seven Wednesday nights in a row we drove home in snow storms and came back in the same storm the next morning. So glad I don’t have to do it now.
The crows in this photo have lined up on the roof of Trinity Anglican Church. Maybe getting ready to gather together somewhere to be protected from the Snowy Owls who come down from the north. You see them, maybe fifty or more on one branch of a tree. I wonder why they don’t swarm down and all attack that owl instead of waiting for its’ attack???

It gets late so early. Wonder if Yogi said that or if I made it up??
Giselle Ward, one of our seniors attended the Rib Fest this summer at Lamoureux Park. She said that it was a lot of fun. As she was walking around she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Minnie Mouse. Unknown to Giselle and, to her surprise, her niece, Nicole Cardinal, was there dressed as Minnie Mouse and she had a male friend with her dressed as Mickey Mouse. A friend took this photo for Giselle.
When we were kids we used to love seeing cartoons at the movies of Mickey Mouse an thought it was great that he had a girlfriend, Minnie.
I didn’t realize they were so big. Cute photo – thanks, Giselle, for sharing it with us.
Limericks are fun:
A man and his lady-love Min,
Skated out where the ice was quite thin.
Had a quarrel no doubt
For I heard they fell out.
What a blessing they didn’t fall in.
A snowbird relative in Florida takes nature walks often and sends me photos of some of ‘acquaintances’ she meets along the way. No alligator this time but a lovely Anhinga bird.
And, she said that it is nice and warm in Florida. Rub it in!!!
Thanks for sharing the photo with us. Beautiful bird.
Jamie Gilcig, Editor of CFN, tells me that he and a publisher are just about ready to release a book of the best of my first 100 columns. He will issue a press release about it soon.
A joke sent in by a friend:
After being married for thirty years a wife asked her husband to describe her.
He looked at her for awhile, then said, “You’re A,B,C,D,E,F,H,I,J,K”
She asks: what does that mean?”
He said, Adorable, Beautiful. Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Foxy, Gorgeous, Hot”
She smiled happily and sid, “Oh, that’s so lovely…what about I, J. K?
He said, “I’m Just Kidding!”
The swelling in his eye is going down and the doctor is fairly optimistic about saving his family jewels.
Keep safe and well. It is still pandemic-ism.
Have a good week, Dawn.
