MARCH 20, 2022 – March came in like a lion. I could hardly see out of my window at times. That means or is supposed to mean, that March will go out like a lamb. Let’s hope.
March is a busy month. Daylight saving time starts March 13th. My Mom always said the change was to enable the farmers during the war to have more daylight hours.
And the first day of spring .. hooray..is March 20th. That is music to our ears for sure. And there are many songs about spring like “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles and Elvis’s “Spring Fever”. Soon the little buds will be on the trees and shrubs and tiny little green shoots will be springing up in the ground. Another hooray!!
Lent started for the Christian community at the start of March beginning with
Ash Wednesday.
And March 17th is the day we are all Irish and it is a fun day for a lot of people.
And now with most restrictions lifting and we can get out to events more, March could really be fun. I hear that the Stampeders are coming to Aultsville Hall in April. Wow!! Lots of fun coming for sure in the days ahead. Now ,if March will please just go out like a lamb, we are all set.

Sometimes I am glad that I am a bit of a’ pack rat’. Look what I found! A beautiful 2016 calendar of the Mouth and Foot Artists. The month of March has this beautiful painting which was mouth painted by Jan Sporek. The quotation beneath the painting is. “Spring is when life’s alive in everything” by Christina Rossetti.

The winter newsletter for Child Haven International has arrived and as always full of interesting photos and articles on the activities of the children and staff. Pages of happy smiling children. Wonderful newsletter. Wonderful organization.
CHI was founded in 1985 by Dr. Nat Shah and Bonnie and Fred Cappuccino to help orphaned and destitute children and women in need of food, clothing, health care, education, moral and emotional support. Child Haven International shelters, cares lovingly for and provides education for children in ten homes in Tibet in China, Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
One of the articles in the newsletter is about new children living in the Chittagong Home. Nustrat, is a six year-old, is from Noakhali whose father had died two years earlier and her mother was unable to make ends meet. A little seven year-old, Muntaha, whose father was also in an accident while working as a pipe fitter and can no longer support his family. Tina Tipura is a five year-old who’s family lives in Chittagong Hill Tracts area and has a father who is unstable and unable to provide for his family, Another six year-old, Ismat Jahan’s father died of Covid related causes. Seven year-old Fatema Akter’s father is a rickshaw puller and is now unable to work anymore. Her older sister is also at the Home. Their families will come and visit when they are able to do so.

Azran is the 7 month old son of Home Manager Jasmin. Azran loves to spend time at the Home. One of the many reason why he likes it is Sweety who is 17 and in grade 11. Sweety came to the Home 12 years ago, recommended by the Gandhi Ashram in Noakhali, which both knew about Sweety’s situation and that Child Haven would provide a safe and loving Home.
