Punk Charged in Legion Baseball Diamond Arson Case MAY 31, 2023

ARREST MADE IN BASEBALL DIAMOND ARSON

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 23rd, 2023 and charged with arson-cause damage to property. It is alleged on the evening of May 16th, the youth attended the area of the Legion Park baseball diamonds on Bergeron Drive and set fire to an object in the area of the batting cage, causing damage to the structure. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 23rd, 2023, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth is not being released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Travis Salt-Gaspe, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on May 25th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on May 18th, 2023 for an assault offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 25th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on June 29th, 2023.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Mathieu Duplantie, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on May 25th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on May 25th, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 29th, 2023.

WARRANT, MISCHIEF, ASSAULT POLICE, RESIST POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Clayton Martin, 27, of Akwesasne was arrested on May 25th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on April 20th, 2023, he failed to attend court for an obstruct police offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. It Is further alleged on May 25th, 2023, the man damaged a car belonging to someone he did not know and police were contacted. During the investigation, the man resisted being taken into custody and further spat on a police officer. He was charged accordingly and held in custody to await a bail hearing.

 THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 25th, 2023 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on May 25th, the man made threats to kill her and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 13th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

FRAUD UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, UTTER FORGED DOCUMENT

Cornwall, ON – Peter Sanidas, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on May 26th, 2023 and charged with fraud under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime and utter forged document. It is alleged on January 6th, 2023, the man forged a stolen cheque that did not belong to him to obtain a quantity of cash. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 26th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 4th, 2023.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on May 27th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged on May 27th, the woman assaulted her boyfriend and damaged various items in the household. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

UTTERING THREATS, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 27th, 2023 and charged with uttering threats, mischief under $5000, and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on May 27th, during an altercation with a woman known to her, the youth damaged a door in the residence and made threats to harm the woman. Police were contacted and took the youth into custody. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Long Sault woman was arrested on May 27th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault and breach of release order for contacting and being within a certain distance of her boyfriend. It is alleged on May 27th, 2023, the woman attended her boyfriend’s residence, despite her conditions, and subsequently assaulted him during an altercation. Police were contacted and took the woman into custody. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

It is alleged the man failed to attend court on August 23rd, 2022 for a breach offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 28th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on July 4th, 2023.

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 28th, 2023 and charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged on May 28th, the man damaged a door at his ex-girlfriend’s residence during an altercation and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 13th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Robert Brannen, 41, of Cornwall was arrested on May 29th, 2023 and charged with assault and uttering threats. It is alleged during an altercation with a man he did not know on May 15th, 2023, he assaulted the victim and made threats to kill him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 29th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 4th, 2023.

ROBBERY WITH INTENT

Cornwall, ON – Jackie Lague, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on May 29th, 2023 and charged with robbery with intent. It is alleged on May 29th, the man attended a McConnell Avenue facility and attempted to flee with money from a cash box. A struggle ensued and a nearby witness detained the man until police arrived. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
