JANUARY 8, 2025 – The world is going through a period of instability which is being amplified by social media and AI. One tweet on X can ripple through millions of people.
Right now the Western world is going through the ripples of President Donald Trump’s “jokes” about the US ending up with Greenland, the Panama Canal, and…. Canada becoming a 51st state.
Essentially the rational is that why should the US cover the security costs for other countries, especially Canada that has literally destroyed a once proud Canadian armed forces.
And there’s smoke to this fire. After a decade of destructive and divisive rule under Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government would anybody truly be surprised if Alberta had had enough of Canada?
It exports billions via equalization payments without getting much back. In fact the Federal government under Trudeau has seemed to be fighting Alberta’s biggest industries of oil and gas.
Healthcare has been allowed to devolve and our once heralded Medicare system has evolved into pushing MAID to many who simply are being criminally neglected by our healthcare system. Millions of Canadians have no personal doctor while clinics have closed coast to coast and for profit medical shops are opening which are of no use to those that can’t afford them.
Canada just had a deficit over $60 billion dollars over an already bloated budget. That’s not sustainable and would take generations to pay off.
Eastern Politics have hampered pipelines and Alberta is also hamstrung by Official Bilingualism and forced immigration that strains healthcare and criminal budgets.
So who could blame the province for wanting to be a state in the US?
Is there a Canadian identity any longer? It could be argued that there is a Quebec one, but that would be an exclusionary one which would not be embraced by most of the rest of the country. While Quebecers would not vote to become American I could see New Brunswick joining a new Quebec Country which would face huge economic challenges by losing Canadian financial support and having to navigate in a much bigger pool surrounding them. Gone would be the days of Federal jobs and appointments gifted to many Francophones over Anglophones in the rest of Canada.
Ontario would be isolated as would BC. The Eastern Provinces are not strong enough to go it on their own, and as for Saskatchewan and Manitoba, they too would find it tough to not join with the US or Ontario.
Things can change fast in this world. The US would never attack Canada militarily, but they really wouldn’t have to. They simply aren’t obliged to protect Canada and the North is going to be the next great frontier with ice melting, and resources and land waiting to be developed over the next few generations.
Where there is smoke there is fire, and as we know fires can catch quickly, and the flame that the US simply doesn’t have to financially support Canada is very real, and it’s also that Canada can’t afford to address. There is no solution and the cards are in the US President and governments hands.
Clearly Canadians need to wake up fast and think about their futures before someone does it for them.
