16th Sexual Assault in Cornwall Ontario for 2014 – Police Blotter CPS – June 2, 2014

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Christopher Anderson, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on May 30^th, 2014 and charged with breaching his undertaking for having associated with someone known to have a criminal record and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 26^th, 2014 the man was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the company of someone known to have a criminal record. As a result an investigation ensued. On May 30^th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT PERSONATION

            Cornwall, ON – Dakota Garlow, 28 of Cornwall was arrested on May 30^th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and also charged with personation. It is alleged that on May 6^th, 2014 the man failed to attend court for a theft under $5000 charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 30^th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the man as Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service had arrested the man on the strength of the warrant. The man was also charged with personation as earlier in the day he had falsely identified himself to police. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON – A 24 Cornwall man was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 and charged with sexual assault. It is alleged that on May 31^st, 2014 the man sexually assaulted a 27-year-old woman and police were contacted. An investigation ensued and during their investigation they took the man into custody, charged him accordingly and held him for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Nancy Hutt, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 and charged with breaching two probation orders for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 31^st, 2014 police attended a Cumberland Street address in relation to a disturbance call. Once on scene they located the intoxicated woman and took her into custody. She was charged accordingly and held until sober.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

            Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that the man contacted his 42-year-old ex-wife by way of text messages and by way of attending her place of work despite having been told by her to stop communicating with her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 31^st, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 24^th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and also charged with breaching her undertaking for communicating with someone that she has conditions not to and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 31^st, 2014 during a traffic stop the woman was found to be in the company of a person that she was on conditions not to communicate with. She was taken into custody on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged accordingly. She was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the original incident stems from a domestic matter and might identify the victim.

ASSAULT, BREACH, MISCHIEF, OVERCOME RESISTANCE (CHOKING)

            Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 and charged with assault, mischief, overcoming resistance and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 31^st, 2014 during an argument the man pushed his 28-year-old girlfriend to the ground and applied pressure to her throat with his hands. The man then damaged the phone in the room when she attempted to call out. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police learned that when the woman had returned from receiving medical attention for minor injuries the man slapped the woman across the face. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ROBBERY, MISCHIEF, ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 31^st, 2014 and charged with robbery, mischief and assault. It is alleged that on May 31^st, 2014 during an argument the man forced his 25-year-old’s girlfriend’s cell phone away from her and threw it against the wall. He then tried to pry the recovered cell phone from his girlfriend’s possession. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they arrested the man, charged him accordingly and held him for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

            Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 1^st, 2014 and charged with sexual assault. It is alleged that on June 1^st, 2014 the man sexually assaulted a 27-year-old woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
