Cornwall Ontario – Facing clear prejudice from the CCPS this newspaper is still asking for basic accountability and transparency.

BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 4th, 2017 and charged with breach of undertaking for attending a certain address, being within 100 meters of a certain person and for communicating with that person. It is alleged on December 4th, 2017 the man was found to be in breach of his conditions when police conducted a door knock. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2018. His name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and would identify the victim in the matter.
There were 67 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release).
Essentially the CCPS only reported one out of 67 calls for service. The Kingston Police Service by example, while not displaying each call do give out a daily breakdown.

Calls for Service
Kingston Police had 117 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on December 4, 2017. Of these, 77 calls occurred in the city central area, 21 in the west end, 3 in the east end, and 2 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

- 7 undesirable calls

- 1 mischief call
- 1 fraud call
- 6 motor vehicle collisions
- 4 driving complaints
- 5 suspicious activity calls
- 3 trespass/prowler calls

By giving out such information in a transparent fashion the onus is then put on we media types to ask more info about any particular call or segment. Without such basic info can we really do our jobs and are the CCPS really doing theirs?
Surely with their top heavy load of staff sgts one of them must be literate enough to cobble together a daily blotter? The data is already there as they load it into their crime map? Clearly the Cst that currently handles the media release must be overburdened? When I called him yesterday to ask about a break in at a local KFC over a week ago he said he hadn’t heard anything about it. Another desk Sgt was courteous enough to call me back with the info after I called into the station. There really are some good officers in the force, but certain leaders are tarnishing the CCPS reputation.
