Disqualified Driving in South Stormont OPP Round UP June 6, 2016

DRUGS, CASH AND FRAUDULENT ITEMS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On June 2, 2016 at approximately 7:00pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana, fraudulent identity documents (permits, credit and SIN cards) and cash. Three (3) males (all from Montreal, Quebec) were arrested.

The driver, Messhy NZIKOU (27) is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Identity Theft – Possess Another Person’s Identity Information (5 counts)
– Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

Passenger Junior KABANGE (29) is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Identity Theft – Possess Another Person’s Identity Information (5 counts)
– Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (11 counts)
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (3 counts)

Passenger Cedrick KIAMBA (29) is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Identity Theft – Possess Another Person’s Identity Information (5 counts)
– Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

All were held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Stormont) – On June 3, 2016 at approximately 4:17pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in South Stormont Township. Investigation
revealed that an altercation between an adult male and his ex-spouse resulted in the female being assaulted.

The 50-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 28, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

(North Dundas) – On June 5, 2016 at approximately 5:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her ex-spouse resulted in the female making a threat to damage property. Further information revealed that the female had assaulted the male on two (2) previous occasions.

The 29-year-old female was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal (2 counts)
– Utter Threats to Damage Property

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 28, 2016. Her name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

DISTURBANCE

(North Glengarry) – On June 2, 2016 at approximately 5:52pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Bishop Street, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male was causing a disturbance by yelling and throwing items from the residence. He was also observed exposing himself. Upon his arrest, he became aggressive and resisted officers.

Justin LEBRUN (27) of North Glengarry Township is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000
– Resist Peace Officer
– Breach of Recognizance (2 counts)
– Causing a Disturbance
– Indecent Act

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(North Stormont) – On June 4, 2016 at approximately 5:47pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a male pedestrian on Concession 1-2, North Stormont Township. A check of the adult male revealed he was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident (alcohol consumption, keep the peace).

Jacob VACHON (26) of North Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
IMPAIRED DRIVER

(North Stormont) – On June 4, 2016 at approximately 7:47pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle as a result of a traffic complaint on Highway 138, North Stormont Township. The stop indicated that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Nathan WHEELER (25) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
– Drive Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 16, 2016.
DISQUALIFIED DRIVER

(South Stormont) – On June 3, 2016 at approximately 6:56pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. A check of the male driver revealed that his driving privileges were disqualified (criminal) and suspended (provincial) as a result of previous incidents.

Kelly STAPLEY (52) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive While Disqualified
– Drive While Under Suspension (2 counts)

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 19, 2016.

THEFT OF TRAILER

(South Stormont) – Between June 1-3, 2016, a 2014 Wabash Dry Van transport trailer was removed from a property on County Road 44, South Stormont Township.

An investigation continues.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(South Glengarry/Stormont) – On June 4, 2016 – SD&G and Highway Safety Division (HSD) OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401 – South Glengarry/Stormont Townships intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In both stops, the vehicles were impounded and driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– June 4, 2016 – 1:28pm (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 178km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (44) from Les Cedres, Quebec charged accordingly.

– June 4, 2016 – 3:41pm (South Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 170km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (23) from Mississauga, Ontario charged accordingly.
