Busy Weekend for SD&G #OPP Round Up for APRIL 10, 2017

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Dundas) – On April 9, 2017 at approximately 3:21am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the adult male driver of the vehicle involved was under the influence of alcohol. He suffered minor injuries (treated and released at hospital).

Neiber SANTIBANEZ-LOPEZ (23) of Verdun, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired

– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on May 2, 2017.

DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On April 7, 2017 at approximately 3:51pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The female driver, Gabrielle SASSEVILLE (18) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

– Speeding (Highway Traffic Act)

She was released and scheduled to appear (drug charge) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on May 3, 2017.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(North Dundas) – On April 7, 2017 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a domestic situation at as residence in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had requested a personal favor from an adult female in return for money owing.

The 47-year-old male from North Dundas Township was arrested on April 8, 2017 and is charged with;

– Extortion

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 2, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

(North Glengarry) – On April 7, 2017 at approximately 5:49pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had threatened his ex-girlfriend.

On April 8, 2017 – SD&G OPP executed a warrant at the residence of the accused in Alexandria and located a firearm, ammunition and knife in the home. The accused was under conditions imposed from a previous incident not to be in possession of such items.

The 50-year-old male from North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats

– Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

He was held in custody pending an appearance (court) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

(North Dundas) – On April 7, 2017 at approximately 11:42pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault incident at a residence in the Village of Morewood, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male had sexually assaulted an adult female known to him.

The 25-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Sexual Assault

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 23, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

THEFT

(South Dundas) – On April 9, 2017 at approximately 10:12am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report a theft incident at a business property on Highway 401, South Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that a male had entered a convenient store and took items without paying and fled in a waiting vehicle. Officers intercepted the vehicle a short distance away and arrested two (2) adult male occupants.

Joel SCALETTA (19) of Quinte West, Ontario and Kurtis POTTER (19) of Murray, Ontario are each charged with;

– Theft Under $5000

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on May 2, 2017.

DISQUALIFIED DRIVERS

(North Glengarry) – On April 9, 2017 at approximately 1:12pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a request for assistance by a Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) officer who had intercepted two (2) All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV). Investigation indicated that both males were disqualified drivers resulting from previous incidents.

Drew Wallace (53) and Raymond LAVIGNE (43) – both of North Glengarry Township were arrested and each charged with;

– Driving While Disqualified

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on June 7, 2017.

DAMAGED ROAD SIGNS AND MAILBOXES

(South Stormont) – Overnight (April 8-9, 2017) several mailboxes and road signs were damaged along Lawson and Myers Roads, South Stormont Township.

An investigation continues.
