November EI claims up in Cornwall.
Not good news for the Cornwall region, but it could be worse.
This morning, Statistics Canada released the number of people receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. For Canada as a whole, about 800,000 people were collecting, up 52% from November 2008.
The increase for Cornwall was “not as bad” with an increase of “only” 35%. This increase compares to +54% for Hawkesbury, +57% for Ottawa, +59% for Kingston and +304% for Calgary.
