SigmaPoint Technologies lands nearly $1,000,000 of Government Investment – Cornwall Ontario – April 7, 2010

Cornwall ON — Cornwall area residents and businesses will benefit from an investment of $918,500 for SigmaPoint Technologies Inc. to expand their production line, announced today by the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), as well as Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

“This investment will create jobs and stimulate the local economy,” said Minister Goodyear. “Our government is working with the people, businesses and communities of southern Ontario to help our region prosper now and in the future.”

“Our government is committed to immediate job creation and economic growth right here in Cornwall,” said MP Lauzon. “We are providing funding for the development of local businesses and organizations because we understand the positive impact they have on our communities.”

SigmaPoint Technologies, an electronic manufacturing services provider, will install a high speed, high volume production line. Funding will also go toward the purchase and installation of several pieces of equipment, as well as planning and testing for implementation.

“We are grateful for the FedDev Ontario contribution, which will assist our much-needed expansion plans,” said Dan Bergeron, President of SigmaPoint Technologies Inc. “This will enable us to create a second facility with state-of-the-art automated equipment, to continue our quest for World Class Lean Manufacturing Certification, and will let us compete favourably, giving our customers the partnership they seek.”

This project will be funded under the Community Adjustment Fund in southern Ontario, which will create immediate employment opportunities and support the local economies that have been struggling with the effects of the global economic downturn. Other projects approved under the Community Adjustment Fund will be announced over the coming weeks. Approved projects must meet the terms and conditions set out in their contribution agreements.
