Cornwall ON – For over 30 years Bill Tarmey has been playing Jack Duckworth on Coronation Street. Jack & Vera were cornerstones of the show. Warm friendly characters.
Elizabeth Dawn who played Vera retired a few years ago after suffering from Emphysema; Bill has had heart By-pass surgery as well as a Heart Attack and the brave trooper has stayed his ground to make it to the show’s 50th anniversary.
No word yet how the show will deal with Bill’s departure.
“I have had some great storylines over the past three decades and I am looking forward to seeing what Jack’s final story will be.”
Coronation Street executive producer Kieran Roberts said: “Bill Tarmey and Jack Duckworth have been a huge part of Coronation Street for 30 years and, like his many millions of fans, everyone who works on the show with Bill will be sad to see him go.
