Acts of Kindness fulfill Dreams! by Jacqueline Milner
Cornwall ON – The Upper Canada Champions for Kids Foundation was formed in January 2008. The goal of this non profit organization is to level the playing field for area children of struggling families. This organization helps children with medical requirements such as glasses and allows children to participate in sporting events, the arts and other fun activities which may be out of reach due to their current circumstances.
And so the current fundraising project ‘Celebration of the Arts Event’ was born. Area students have donated their artwork to this event which is currently on display at The Cornwall Public Library until the 24th of June. The organizers asked members of The Focus Art Association to select ten pieces from this show to be featured at a Celebration Dinner & Art Auction, June 25th, 2010 at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre.
Join the Champions for Kids Foundation for an evening of fun and to celebrate the accomplishments of the young artist’s work which will be auctioned on this evening. Hors d’oeurves will be served while guests have the opportunity to view our area students’ work and talk with the artists about their creative process. This will be followed by a gourmet buffet dinner. The artwork donated by our areas talented and generous students will be auctioned off live by local Trustee, David McDonald. This will be followed by a live performance by the Edsels and capped off with the sounds of ‘Crazy Daves DJ Service’.
Join us for a celebratory evening of talent, food, fun and dance. All proceeds will go to the Upper Canada District School Board Champions for Kids Foundation. For more information about this organization go to http://championsforkids.ucdsb.on.ca Tickets are available through Eamer’s Corners Public School (933-0644) at an investment of $50.00 per ticket.
