Sacha Baron Cohen “Borat” to play Queen Lead Freddie Mercury? Cornwall Ontario – September 17, 2010

Cornwall ON – Though dead for almost two decades Freddie Mercury is still a very hot rock legend.   Adam Lambert of American Idol fame is still rumored to be taking his place in the band Queen, but in the meanwhile reports out of Hollywood are pegging no other than Sacha Baron Cohen of “Borat” and “Bruno” fame to play the iconic singer.

The untitled film will be financed by GK Films partners Graham King and Tim Headington, who’ll produce in partnership with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s Tribeca Productions, and Queen Films. Morgan is already working on a script focused on the band’s formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985.

  1. No, but I could see Adam Lambert doing it!

  2. SBC is a comic genius. Interesting to see him act in a non-comedic role.

  3. Cohen has no charisma and his face is too thin – looks like a used car salesman or lounge singer.

  4. Borat has NO VOICE, NO CHARISMA, NO STAGE SENSE!!! How did it happened??!! And I guess this decision was taken by some very well payed “specialists” !!??

To have Adam and get damn Borat instead? GIVE ME A BREAK!

  5. Did anyone notice that this is for a movie? SBC is going to play the “Part” of Freddie Mercury in the “MOVIE”.. Adam Lambert will be possibly replacing him in the actual “Band”.. and quite honestly, SBC, is amazing! Same with those pipes on Adam Lambert! I could totally see Adam Lambert replacing Axel Rose or the likes with pipes like that.. very rare!
