Cornwall ON – The Cornwall Community Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public in providing a safe environment for participants in the “Marche du Drapeau Franco” as well as the spectators viewing the walk.
The participants will leave La Citadelle High School located at 510 McConnell Avenue. Participants from La Citadelle will proceed southbound on McConnell Avenue to Second Street East.
The students will proceed westbound to Pitt Street, then southbound to Water Street. Participants will then proceed eastbound on Water Street to the Francophone Monument.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the walk which starts at 9:30 a.m. on the 24th of September, 2010. Traffic will be delayed during this event. The walk is scheduled to last approximately one hour.
Officers will be on scene to ensure the safety of the participants and the general public. Detours may be necessary in order to reduce the interaction between vehicles and pedestrians as well as walk participants, therefore reducing the risk of injuries to all involved in this event.
