Cornwall ON – Bernie Schwartz was never considered a great “Actor”. He gave some great performances. He gave us Jamie Lee Curtis, and of course he was in some of the most legendary films of all time.
Some Like it Hot, Spartacus. It’s a long list. He had a charmed life. Yes it had its ups and downs, but what a life he lived. He died, at 85, of heart failure.
He touched many people’s lives. I’m going to send a shout out and thanks to Michael Des Barres for allowing the use of this photo from the movie Drop Dead Darling, and a quote.
He was the first genuine hollywood star I ever met and worked with…when stars were stars and not tug boat captains and chefs. With all due respect.
He had 130 credits on the IMDB. I had the honour of being shouted at by Billy Wilder before he died. It makes me smile to know that Mr. Tony Curtis and I shared that little sliver in common.
I think his daughter Jamie Lee said it best so far:
“My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages. He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world. He will be greatly missed.”[23]
RIP Bernie Schwartz – June 3, 1925 – September 29, 2010
