Cornwall ON – The library was a buzz with anticipation to view the 6th Annual L’Association Focus Art Juried Show this past Wednesday, October 6th at The Cornwall Public Library. A variety of different media have been used and manipulated to express the creative voice of about 40 unique Eastern Ontario Visual Artists. The library is a wonderful venue for this Annual show and will host this exhibit until the end of October during regular library business hours. Each work accepted into this show is a winner and provides delight and wonder to each visitor.
The Jury was asked to make a first, second and honorary mention selection for each category, of which there were six. Members present during the opening were also given the opportunity to vote for a ‘Members Choice’ selection.
The awards were as follows. Category Drawing: 1st-Emily MacLeod for ‘Mix it up’, 2nd-Hye Kueng Yu for ‘Countryside’ and Honorable Mention-Emily MacLeod for ‘Strappy Shadows’. Category Oil: 1st-Elsie Gallinger for ‘On the Rocks’, 2nd-Rose Desnoyers for ‘Birds over Dunes’ andHonorable Mention Roena Ryan for ‘If a Tree Fell’. Category Watercolour: 1st-Anita Huygen for ‘Le Miroir’, 2nd Sandra Taylor Hedges for ‘Seated Nude’ and Honorable Mention-Alan Bain for ‘Autumn Tango’. Category Acrylic: 1st-Hennie Marsh for ‘How the Light Gets In’, 2nd-Rolande Levac for ‘Monarch’ and Honorable Mention-Jacqueline Milner for ‘Fall View’. Other Media: 1st-Patricia Campbell for ‘Bus Stop #5’, 2nd-Sandra Taylor Hedges for Joyful Noise and Honorable Mention-Rolande Levac for ‘Faces’. Last but not least Category Photography: 1st-Jacqueline Milner for ‘In The Pink’, 2nd-Sylvie Rozon for ‘Cat’ and Honorable Mention-Stuart Thompson for ‘Autumn Sunset’. The Members Choice Award went to Anita Huygen for her enchanting watercolour entitled ‘Le Miroir’. Congratulations to all the participating artists and organizers for a wonderful show.
