Cornwall ON – Toronto lost again, this time to the Washington Capitals in the Shoot out. Have I shared how I feel the shoot out is about the lamest thing in NHL hockey today? Even lame than having certain teams in the US where there are some super markets waiting for hockey here in Canada?
It was a see saw game with the Leafs scoring first, falling behind, catching up, and then losing the lead and ending up in the Shoot Out.
Phil Kessell was held scoreless, but the Leafs still managed to put 4 over the red line and still lose.
Tim Thomas and the Bruins kept on rolling; this time over the Buffalo Sabres 5-2; the Carolina Hurricanes swept the NY Islanders out to sea in their 7-2 victory; Atlanta edged Florida 4-3; 3 third period goals and an injury to Marty Brodeur led the Devils to their 5-3 win over the Black Hawks; Dallas 5-2 over Pittsburgh; Mike Modano’s 2nd of the year helped the Detroit Red Wings clip the Calgary Flames 2-1; former Habs Frankie Boullion and Sergei Kostitsyn’s goals weren’t enough as Nashville fell to Phoenix 4-3; and it was Anaheim over Tampa Bay 3-2 in OT.
Injuries were the news of the day with Dion Phaneuf looking like he’s gone for less time than originally thought. Zach Parise looks to be gone longer than thought; and the Blues Carlo Colvaccio and Guillaume Latendresse heading to the IR.
