Human Remains Found in Cornwall Ontario – Area Police Blotter for January 4, 2011

Cornwall ON – Shortly after 10:00 a.m., on Monday, January 3^rd, 2011, human remains were discovered in a wooded area, off of Saunders Drive, in the City of Cornwall.

A Forensic Post Mortem Examination is scheduled for January 5^th in order to confirm the identity of the person.

No word yet if these are possibly the remains of Denise Vernier who has been reported missing for months with no signs of her whereabouts.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON- A 17-year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 30^th of December, 2010 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that the youth failed to attend court on the 9^th of December, 2010 and a bench warrant was issued. The youth was also subsequently charged with Escape Lawful Custody. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON- A 41 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 30^th of December, 2010. He was bound by a Recognizance of Bail with the pertinent conditions not to associate or communicate directly or indirectly with a certain female. It is alleged that on the 30^th of December, 2010, the male attended the females address and an argument occurred. Police were contacted and the male was charged with breaching his Recognizance of Bail. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.

WARRANT & BREACHES

Cornwall, ON- A 41 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 2^nd of January, 2011, under the strength of an outstanding warrant. He was bound by a Recognizance with the relevant conditions of not to associate or communicate directly or indirectly with a certain female and not to attend within 200 meters of her place of residence, place of employment or any place where she may be at. It is alleged that on the 2^nd of January, 2011, the male was located at the females residence. He was charged with breach of recognizance and held in custody until court the following day. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

BREACH & DRUGS

Cornwall, ON- A 16 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 31^st of December, 2010. He was bound by an Office in Charge Undertaking with the relevant conditions of to be in your residence between 9 pm and 7 am daily except in the company of your parents, to abstain from the consumption or possession of alcohol or other intoxicating substances and to keep peace and be of good ehavior  He was also bound by a second Officer in Charge Undertaking with the conditions of a curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on the 31^st of December, 2010 shortly prior to 10:00 p.m., the youth was located and was found to be under the influence of alcohol and breaching his curfew and keep the peace conditions. Subsequent to his arrest, the youth was found to have in his possession of a small baggy containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine. He was charged with six counts of breach of Undertaking and possession of Schedule I- Cocaine. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WEAPONS, MISCHIEF & BREACHES

Cornwall, ON- An 18 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 31^st of December, 2010. He was bound by a Youth Probation Order with the condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. The youth was also bound by a second Probation Order with the pertinent conditions of not to reside with a certain individual, to keep the peace and be of good ehavior and not to possess or have the control of any weapon, ammunition, prohibited ammo, prohibited device or explosive substances except if authorized. It is alleged that on the 30^th of December, 2010, the youth had in his possession a BB gun and caused damaged to a window and a vehicle on Vincent Massey Drive, Cornwall ON. He was charged with two counts of Mischief, Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and four counts of breach of Probation Order.  He was released to appear in court on the 25^th of January, 2011.  His name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON- A 25 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 31^st of December 2010. It is alleged that on the 31^st of December, 2010, he engaged in an altercation with his 26 year-old ex-girlfriend when he assaulted her. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with assault and held in custody until bail court on the 4^th of January, 2011. His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.

Cornwall, ON- A 47 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 1^st of January, 2011. It is alleged that on the 31^st of December, 2010, he engaged in an altercation with his 43 year-old common-law wife when he punched her. On the 1^st of January, 2011, they engaged into an second altercation when he broke a coffee cup and he stuck her again. Police were later contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with two counts of Domestic Assault and mischief. He held in custody until court on the 4^th of January, 2011.  His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.

Cornwall, ON- A 46 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 2^nd of January, 2011. She was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions of not to communicate with a certain male and the Keep the peace and be of good behavior. She was also bound by an Officer in Charge Undertaking with the conditions of not to communicate with a certain male and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on the 1^st of January, 2011, she engaged in an altercation with her 49 year-old ex-boyfriend when she attended his residence and assaulted him. She was later located and charged with two counts of Breach of Probation Order, two counts of breach of Officer in Charge Undertaking and assault. She was held in custody until court on the 4^th of January, 2011. Her name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.

Cornwall, ON- A 19 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 2^nd of January, 2011. It is alleged that on the 25^th of December, 2010, he entered in an altercation with his 21 year-old girlfriend when he assaulted her and damaged walls in the residence. He was charged with Domestic assault and mischief. He was held in custody until court the following day.  His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.

THEFT

Cornwall, ON- Mark Swerdfeger, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on the 1^st of January, 2011. He was bound by an Officer in Charge Undertaking with the condition to Keep the Peace and be of good Behaviour and not to consume alcohol or any other Intoxicating substances. It is alleged that on the 18^thof December, 2010, he committed theft at a Brookdale Avenue store. He was captured on the security video surveillance and later identified.  On the 1^st of January, 2011, he was located while he was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He was charged with two counts of Breach of Officer in Charge Undertaking and Theft under $5000.00. He was held in custody until court to following day.

Cornwall, ON- Kenneth Gunn, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on the 1^st of January, 2011. It was alleged that on the 18^th of December, 2010, he committed theft at a Brrokdale Avenue store. He was captured on the security video surveillance and later identified. On the 1^st of January, 2011, he was located and charged with Theft under $5000.00. He was released to appear in court on the 25^th of January, 2011.

BREAK & ENTER

Cornwall, ON- A 21 year-old, 18 year-old and an 16 year-old youth were arrested on the 2^nd of January, 2011. It is alleged that on the 1^st of January, 2011, between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. they entered a residence and stolen approximately $1300.00 in property. The 21 year-old male was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions to notify Cornwall Police any change of address and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The 21 year-old male was located and charged with two counts of Breach of Probation Order and possession of stolen property. He was held in custody until court the following day.

The 18 and 16 year-old were also located and charged with possession of stolen property. They were released to appear in court on the 25^th of January, 2011 to answer to the charge.Their names are not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON- A 16 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 2^nd of January, 2011. The youth was bound by a Youth Probation Order with the condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on the 1^st of January, 2011, she stuck two another youths with a golf club. Police were contacted and she was charged with two counts of Assault with a weapon, assault and breach of Probation Order. She was released to appear in court on the 27^th of January, 2011. Her name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
