New Bridges Create Jobs in Cornwall Ontario – January 5, 2011

Cornwall ON – Three new bridges in Cornwall will help ensure long-term safety, create about 216 jobs and support the environment.

The work includes:

§         Removing and rebuilding the eastbound and westbound Highway 401 bridges over the CNR line, east of Boundary Road at Cornwall

§         Building a new bridge over Highway 401 at Boundary Road, replacing the existing one.

For the first time in Ontario, tires will be recycled for use as embankment fill for the Boundary Road bridge over the 401. This will help recycle 400,000 tires, keeping them out of landfills.

“This is good news for the residents, visitors and businesses of Cornwall. We want to ensure we keep our roads and infrastructure safe and strong and to provide jobs to our community.”- Jim Brownell, MPP, Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry

I began reading the political buzz words, strengthen / invest / create / support, with an exagerated tone and it makes these things enjoyable. But I still remember when buying my first house and being told by the salesperson that the basement was “unspoiled” and what you really get.
