Cornwall ON – The Leafs won a game! They beat St. Louis 6-5 in the shoot out. Toronto spread the scoring around with no player getting more than two points on the evening. That’s good news for Leaf fans as they get to showcase some potential talent they hope GM Brian Burke can use to land Brayden Schenn.
Memo to Brian. Sometimes you have to admit you messed up and fix things. Why not simply trade Phil Kessel? I know you won’t get two franchise type 1st rounders for him, but your rebuild needs a reboot and the free agent market will not fill the pantry fast enough.
I know Leaf fans are used to losing, but it’s going to take more than a Colby Armstrong (a goal and assist tonight) and Clarke MacArthur to get your team to the Promised land.
Jaroslav Halak was chased from the net by the vaunted St. Louis offensive machine (taking tongue out of cheek now..)
In other NHL games Philly doubled New Jersey 4-2 where fans are waiting on news that Jamie Langenbrunner has been traded; most likely according to rumors to Dallas. Jose Theodore did his old team a favor and kicked out enough pucks for Minnesota to beat Boston 3-1.
The Habs struggled, but finally beat the Penguins in the shoot out, 2-1. Benoit Pouliot scored in regulation time for Montreal, and the winner in the shoot out! Josh Gorges went off for season ending knee surgery and Sidney Crosby was out tonight for the Penguins. Montreal had tons of opportunity on the PP but could not put Pittsburgh away. Pittsburgh out shot les boys, 32-24.
Carey Price is in goal for the Habs. There’s also a lot of buzz about bringing in Alex Frolov to play with my favorite Hab Mike Cammallieri. Depending on what Montreal would have to give up I’m not sure I’m in love with this potential move as Frolov (also nickname fro LOAF doesn’t strike me as Stanley Cup material. Peter Prucha is also floating around on the waiver wire with almost no cap hit.
Scores to be UPDATED.
