DRUGS
Cornwall, Ont. – On the 25th of February, 2011 the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit, assisted by the O.P.P. Drug Enforcement Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Search warrant at an Elm Street residence. As a result of the search a quantity of drugs, believed to be crack cocaine, hydromorphone, morphine and marijuana were seized.
As a result of the investigation:
Linda Christine Depatie, 41, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was released to appear in court on the 15th of March, 2011 to answer to these charges.
John Paul Laffin, 48, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1 count of Breach of Probation for failing to abstain from the purchase/possession/consumption of drugs and 1 count of Breach of Undertaking for failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. He was released to appear in court on the 15th of March, 2011 to answer to these charges.
Vincent Loyd Bryan, 58, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession a Controlled Substance. He was released to appear in court on the 15th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges.
The total value of drugs is estimated at over $404.00.
BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred at 2 adjoining residences on McConnell Avenue on March 2nd, 2011 between the hours of 06:00 pm and 08:00 pm. The suspect(s) gained entry by forcing open a side door to one of the residences. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole meat from each tenant’s freezer. BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred sometime between 11:50 pm. and 06:00 am overnight on the 05th of March, 2011 at a Pitt Street restaurant. The suspect(s) gained entry by compromising the alarm system and entering through a back door. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole cash, a Louis Vuitton brown wallet containing credit cards, a pair of Escada sunglasses, a pair of Versace eyeglasses and a black flip cell telephone. WARRANT
Cornwall, Ont. – Stepha Franklin, 21, of No Fixed Address turned himself into police on the 07th of March, 2011 on the strength of an outstanding warrant. On the 01 of January, 2011 it is alleged that during an altercation with another male outside a Second Street West establishment, Stepha Franklin assaulted the male with a knife. As a result of the injury, the victim required medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation commenced. The male was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to not be in possession of a weapon and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. A warrant for the arrest of the male was requested and granted. The male is facing 1 count of Assault with a weapon, 1 count of Assault causing bodily harm, 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance and 1 count of Cause a disturbance by fighting. The male was held in custody until court that day.
WARRANT
Cornwall, Ont. – A 40 year-old Cornwall male turned himself into police on the 07th of March, 2011 on the strength of an outstanding warrant. On the 23rd of February, 2011 it is alleged that during an argument with his 33 year-old girlfriend, he assaulted her. The female did not require medical attention at the time. Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the request for a warrant. The male is facing 1 count of Assault and was held in custody until court on the 08th of March, 2011. His name is withheld as it may identify the victim in this incident.
WARRANTS
Cornwall, Ont. – Jamie William McKnight, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on the 07th of March, 2011 on the strength of 3 outstanding warrants. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 15th of October, 2009 and a bench warrant was issued. Police further allege that he failed to re-attend court on another matter and failed to comply with his Probation Order condition. The male was arrested and held in custody until court on the 08th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges.
BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
Cornwall, Ont. – A 35 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 07th of March, 2011 for breaching his conditions. He was bound by a Recognizance Order with the following conditions: to not attend a specific address, to not associate directly or indirectly with the occupant of that address and to obey a curfew. On the 06th of March, 2011 it is alleged that he attended the residence and had contact with the female. The following day, the male returned once again to the residence, thus breaching his conditions. On that date, police located the male hiding inside the residence and arrested him for 7 counts of Breach of Recognizance in relation to both investigations. The male was held in custody until court on the 08th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges. His name is withheld as it may identify the victim in this incident.
