Muammar Gaddafi Vows to Fight to End in Libya – Editorial by Jamie Gilcig – March 20, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – As I watch events unfold in Libya it’s like watching the movie Scarface.    Oliver Stone wrote the script which was directed by Brian DiPalma and in which Al Pacino will probably be more remembered than for his role in The Godfather.

Lines like “Say Hello to my Little Friend” have been immortalized and my personal fave from the flick “I tell the truth, even when I lie” have echoed around the world, because after all most of what actually happens is a lie.    Right?   Do we go to war for the right reasons?   Vote for the right reasons?  Make choices when it comes to our jobs or businesses for the right reasons?

We start off with lies from a young age too; Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, why we have a 10 year old Goldfish or Hamster when they normally just live for a few brief moments in time.

We lie in the media too.  Commercials; advertising at times, but these aren’t called lies.   Politicians lie most of all.   Show me an honest politician and I’ll show you a really really good liar.

And I’m not saying that in a bad way or pointing any particular fingers.   Who would really want an honest politician or know what to do with one; never mind vote for them?

Could you imagine a politician telling you our systems are a mess, our finances are a mess, that our pension schemes and medical coverage can’t work the way they are? Would you vote for them?

No,  life is basically built on a foundation of pleasant “truths” that we tolerate.

And today, March 20, 2011 the world is no longer in the mood to suffer Moammar Gadhafi, or Mohamar Ghadaffi, or which ever way the leader of Libya spells his name.   Today US, French, and other countries are flying sorties over Libya and bombing things.

It makes for good news.  It makes some of us happy to be bombing Libya, and others sad.   It’s not really about Democracy or protecting Libyan lives.   It’s about oil.  It’s about money.  It’s about power, and of course it’s about control.

Or I’m lying 😉

And here’s a clip I found on you tube   Like Tony Montana in Scarface Mr. Gadaffi murdered worked his way up and grabbed himself a country.   He’s had a long run; longer than most; but just like Tony Montana and most thugs in the world he’s about to get his Hollywood ending.

Who’s next?
