Cornwall ON – What’s really neat about this Vancouver San Jose series is that one of two long time under achieving teams is going to the Stanley Cup.
In game one Vancouver grabbed the first win 3-2. The Canucks dominated the shots at home 38-29 with Roberto Luongo under the spotlight.
Both teams took the C off of their respective captains without trading them; Luongo for Vancouver and Patrick Marleau who scored a goal, for the Sharks.
Joe Thornton, another chronic play off under achiever opened the scoring and added an assist. He also had an un-Thornton like 5 shots on goal. Marleau while scoring a goal only had one shot and Dany Heatley was invisible. Joe Pavelski was also kept down offensively.
Daniel Sedin had six shots on goal for the Canucks, but it was brother Henrik that picked up the points. You can’t give too much room to star players and hope to win long term.
Maxim Lapierre and Kevin Bieska rounded out the goal scoring for Vancouver.
For today the Canucks are one win closer to going to the finals. What do you think Hockey fans? You can post your comments below.
