Director and Board Elections Chair, Derek Proulx was pleased with the size of the response. “The Chamber has been increasingly active in its advocacy and business programs role and that profile has clearly encouraged people to become part of the organization.” Proulx went on to note that a number of female professionals are letting their names stand. “It means the new Board will better reflect Cornwall’s increasingly diversified business community.”
For the first time in Chamber history, notification of the election and the candidates seeking a Board seat will be done electronically. “The Chamber has a commitment to being ‘green’ and the electronic notification will save a considerable amount of paper,” states Shaver. He went on to say that the roughly 70 members without e-mail access will still receive a mailed notification.
Nominations for the Chamber Board of Directors continue until the closing date of Thursday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. and nomination forms may be found by visiting the Chamber web site at www.cornwallchamber.com.
“I encourage other members of our business community to consider seeking a seat on the Chamber Board,” continued Shaver. “It is an opportunity to join a dynamic group that is making a difference and playing an integral role in Cornwall’s growth and prosperity.”
