Stand up for your language rights! Howard Galganov to Appear Before South Glengarry Council November 13, 2012

Let’s help keep the momentum building.

On September 26, 2012 . . . South Stormont Council raised the bar for Ontario and the rest of Canada.

The South Stormont Council UNANIMOUSLY adopted a ground-breaking RESOLUTION to honour a section of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, by committing itself to NEVER infringe upon the RIGHTS of people to fully benefit from Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, vis a vis our GUARANTEED FREEDOM of EXPRESSION, specifically in regard to the RIGHT to communicate in the language of anyone’s choice on commercial signs.

The UNRESTRICTED use of the English Language in Ontario is NOW against the law:

As of June of this year (2012), the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled that even though FORCED Bilingual Sign Laws VIOLATE Freedom of Expression . . . but, because these laws favour the French language over the English language, it is appropriate to allow municipalities to take away this FREEDOM, by forcing ENGLISH businesses to post signs in French, whether the individual merchant wishes to communicate in the other language or not.

Your inalienable right to live and work in the language of your choice has been violated. So what are you going to do about it?

SHOW UP AND BE COUNTED:

At 7:00 o’clock on November 13, 2012 at the South Glengarry Town Hall, in Lancaster  at 6 OAK STREET at the corner of  CTY ROAD 34, you will have the chance to be seen and heard in the language of your choice, so don’t leave the FIGHT for your FREEDOM of EXPRESSION up to others.

South Glengarry Township Hall – Meeting Location

There is no guarantee that the Council will even want to vote on this Resolution on the 13th, likely not, since most people seem to want to leave our fight for Freedoms up to our brave troops overseas, while our political leaders are too timid to even raise their voices for our own FREEDOMS at home.

Make your voice heard and call the South Glengarry Council to tell them that you want them to pass this resolution in support of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

 Township office – 613 347-1166

Call now and tell everyone you know to call too.

“Shouldn’t we come together with a change of attitude in order to attract more employers instead of scaring them off with these childish rallies?”

Absolutely a change in attitude provide service in french when warranted !

Until this absurdity stops…….we will never prosper

Do not blame LFA for the lack of prosperity of this city, this is a mill town in transition ,all the mills have left and now slowly becoming a service industry city.

Eventually LFA will be known to benefit this community,Cornwall has become the Alamo for bilingualism,Cornwall will be an example of what happens when you force a language on a populace.

  2. To Richard,

The 14% I refer to is not inclusive of the Acadians, haitians (all imported to racist quebec) and countries of the francophie, that quebec needs to boost numbers for the next referendum.

The |Canadian number refers to the pure English speaking, or those who ,in stats can numbers speak and send their children to English educational institutions. They also consider themselves to be English, speak English at home and identify with the English culture.

The raw percentages differenciates what the ACTUAL PERCENTAGES represents

In any event, even at 8 million, (a non accurate figure) the french are in a ,excuse the pun, a distinct MINORITY.

Take racist quebec out of the equation, and you are down to a mere 4%. Which is why I hope they leave, and leave sooner than later.

  3. Actually Francophones number 6 million ,one must remember that 1.5 million Quebecers are aglophone.

Francophone’s outside of Quebec are <4%.

  4. Richard tremblay November 8, 2012 at 5:24 am

“maybe before, but 1.5 is a slight exageration…maybe before alot of them moved because of them refusing to learn french.”

So you think they left because they didn’t want to learn french?

It comes down to oppression and discrimination ,you are really .blind because your religion(french).

  5. cory…you have enough to worry about with this language thing……don’t worry about me and my job, how many times I post and what time I post at **s** Thinking you should be more focused on language and how it is seperating this great nation of ours.

piper says “eventually the LFA will be known to benefit this city” NOW THAT IS TRULY FUNNY!!! PLEASE……come out of your fantasy world piper. If you only knew what the city really thinks of you and your gang, you would be ashamed to make such a comment. Didn’t your failed attempt at elections give you any indicating what Cornwall thought of your radical views?

  6. We spend so much time and energy responding to Richard and stella, how about we use the energy for goodness? LOL
Pick a topic of interest, health, justice, energy, education, public works etc. and do some research on your subject. Try and find out how French is changing that ministry, and in course, our lives.

With about 40 Language Coordinator positions in the Ontario government, a Ministry of Francophone Affairs, a French Language Commisioner and office plus hundreds of Francophone single issue groups, research will be easy.

“…don’t worry about me and my job, how many times I post and what time I post at **s** ”

But the taxpayers do care it is their money that pays your government job,so it is in their interest of the taxpayer that you post during work hours including the many you do on the freeloader.

“If you only knew what the city really thinks of you and your gang, you would be ashamed to make such a comment.”

-Well imagine when the Women’s Suffrage movement – many in the community thought the same ,but if it were not for them you would not have your GOVERNMENT JOB.

Seen this statement and thought of you Stella!

“I’m sorry ,were my rights getting in
    the way of your BIGOTRY.”

  8. howard if your worried about tax money, why don’t you reimburse all the waste of the courts time …that’s alot of money. For something that the courts said should not concern you. How big was your fine ? How much money have you paid towards that fine ? Are me and stella invited ?

  9. j just typed a comment an hour ago

  10. Yes James and CFN is not here to insult people or be rude. There are other sites for that. If you can’t be semi-civil then the comments is deleted.

  11. James we appreciate your view points ,as I in the Heat of the moment been advised and lost my posts due to name calling and insulting.
That being said we try to maintain composure and provide facts and figures as there are far many more that view and do not blog.

Trust me at times I wish I could reach out and choke the stupid out of some of these bloggers.

I am not he the G ,but I do not agree with thee.
For if I were the G ,I would not write to thee.

  13. Dear Admin,

Your response to me regarding rudeness and the like cuts both ways.

Comments were directed to me that were not complimentary as well. I am a big boy and can handle any and all comments. I thought that political correctness for the purpose of politeness was an honest way of dealing with issues.

When someone questions who I am and if I use different monikers, that initself deserves a response in kind.

When another speaks out of both sides of his/her mouth, honesty demands that a response, when told in french that person can take no lessons from me.

There was never an intention to insult or be rude beyond which was directed to me.

I try to give an honest , knowledgeable account of the facts as I know them, those that try to inaccurately represent these issues should be called on them.
I would have thought as well, you above all would be attuned and sensitive to censorship.

The truth is what it is, and fudgeing it, for the sake soft soaping, is just an injustice to those who appreciate an honest commentary.

The current issues talked about are just too important to Eastern Ontario in particular and Canada in general , not to be as honest and factual as possible.

    many thanks and,

    professioanlly yours,

  14. Failed attempt at elections Stella?

    I don’t know what you’re talking about?

    Please elaborate,

    Thanks,

    Cory

  15. Cory….I was talking about galganov when he ran for elections.

  16. I have a lot to read in people’s comments and I only read Stella’s at the top one. This is nothing new to me about changing our laws here in Canada. The same is being done in the US and very soon the US is going to lose their first amendment. They have already lost most of their amendments. I kept on telling you over and over and over and over again that we are under “NEW WORLD ORDER” and we are only Canada in name only. Canada is gone, so is the US and the rest of the world. It isn’t a good world at all what we are going in and you all better educate yourself quickly because what is coming is “ugly” indeed. You have some freedom now enjoy it while you can before the clamps come down hard on all of us. This is no joke – I am not typing this to you all of nothing. What you knew of our Canada and the entire world is gone. Get used to the shackles – we are entering a police state.

  17. I think of the hard work that Chris Cameron, Cory Cameron, the hospital staff, etc. fighting for language rights but I am sure that if this was not put in to legal of some form the French language would not have made it this far. When my daughter went to this private college here in Ottawa the man who interviewed her said that the French language that she has is a big plus for her.

Canada has changed folks and so has the US and the entire world. We are no longer living in a democracy like what we used to – we are in a New World Order and not one that I am looking forward to at all. If you knew what all this was about you would all be shocked just like I am. I have been studying this for some years now – no joke and it is a nightmare in the making.

Like what Stella said that industries are gone and that is so true and they are not coming back because they have Chinese slavery and they want us as slaves as well. All you will see are low paid jobs like Call Centres, etc. The standard of living is going to come down in order to compete. I am not telling you any blarney – it is all true.

The US has lost most of its constitution and is continuing to fall including their first and second amendment which they charish so much. Enjoy the blogs now because later all that will disappear. I kid you not. Canada is Canada in name only folks and the same with the US and the entire world. We are not countries anymore but we are “corporations” and that is all true. We are owned by the “banksters” and the “corporations” and soon we will be under a “one world government”. We are at the beginning stages of all of this.

  18. When my daughter was little in elementary school (french school) and in Brownies there was a little girl in her troop who was English Canadian and she was attending Alta Vista Public School and that school was “all French system” back then. Little Colleen was so very intelligent and she went through the entire system. I have never heard more things said about the French than what I have heard in Cornwall. In order to get ahead you have to change your ways. I am not for Québec either with their racism and I am against their crazy ways as well – I am for bilingualism for everyone and not just one sided for either side. When you know French it is less difficult to learn other languages. People everywhere have to stop being narrow minded and expand their horizons and educate themselves.

  19. Actually Jules your comment, “When you know French it is less difficult to learn other languages,” actually applies to some languages. I was told that if you know French it is easier to learn Spanish but if your first language is English or French I was advised by a Russian language professor in university that learning Russian would be much more difficult than for other speakers learning the language. I’m not a linguistics expert but it has something to do with the pronounciation aspect.

I tried learning this language in university to make it my third one and hadn’t made any progress in two weeks. The alphabet looks backwards in comparison to French/English and it was just too difficult. I wish I was in a larger centre with more time and money and then I would try Spanish.

  20. How is English language endangered if it is already protected by representation on bilingual signs??? A sign is just a sign… sign sign everywhere a sign… this idea that any language is welcome is not hindered by bilingual signage…..Walking dow the street yesterday I saw a beautiful sign with asian message in Cornwall and english and french translation…. a tempest in a teapot …is what this is…

  21. etymologycally speaking the word “drole” or droll can be used in english and french….

  22. C`est drole, at issue is a level of government, with the courts permission, is forcing a business in each of these 4 townships to post bilingual signs (Eng/Fr). This goes against the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and removes the Right of expression from citizens.

Is there not only one chance to use the not with standing clause?

  23. respectfully we disagree.. municipal levels of government are deciding Charter Rights to include both French/ English and whatever language is chosen…. No part of the Charter guarantees one right supercedes another so both are equally used if a municipality sees the balance and need to do so… Not exclusive to one language over the other….!!! You`re sort of saying, in our estimation, that each person is denied rights because another group can arbritrarily decide for them even though they are not elected to office. That is not democracy!! If Any municipality makes a bylaw that fairly recognizes both official languages in fact the right is protected so both english and french have the same protected rights regardless of what someone things in another REGION of Canada. and if the bylaw does not even exist in a town why make it an issue ? it is only to emphasize that elected officials have no right to represent their constituents even in a case where no actual ‘Bilingiual” designation exists…so categorically it is to strike a blow against charter of Rights and Freedoms of any region deciding for themselves… people vote for reps.. why should someone not elected or voted in be considered the source for a new law.. you have every right By the Charter to express yourself in any language or concern, but certainly no right to overturn or re-adjust bylaws to a whim…unless you are the elected official..so don~t be surprised if this ”’Idea””” goes nowhere on Nov13th… for that democratic right is reserved for elected officials…

  24. Exactly C’est et Touchez……until they are elected officials they have no right to overturn anything…..they’ve been told a 100 times….it just doesn’t sink in. They need to come out of their fantasy world and face reality.

Yep they are heading out, tonight’s the night……LOL galganov, their savior, will gather his sheep and save them all from eternal damnation!!!! **s**

  25. A sign is just a sign. Agreed. Either English sigh or French sign…we are free people and have a freedom to chose. To ascertain local people’s freedom, local law has to be made so that nobody pushes bilingual signs against people’s will.

  26. The town has a perfect right to decide how it wants to be represented. Signs, what is on the sign, the size of the signs should all be legislated by the bylaws of the town. Russell chose to be more open and greet every canadian in both official languages. Stormont chose to listen to hateful propaganda by howard galaganov and a few hens cackling in front during the town hall meeting. For the life of me I can’t understand how howard G has gotten so many sheep to follow him. He promotes hatred of the french language, promotes the boycott of french stores, promotes the extermination of the french language…YET, people chose to follow. Just like stella said.”” SHEEP!!!!¨¨

  27. NO FORCED BILINGUALISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FRENCH DOES NOT HAVE TO BE APPLIED TO ALL SIGNS….YEP call it what you like Tremblay but it is FORCED BILINGUALSIM.

  28. Richard, stella and C`est, don’t know what kind of world you want to live in.
I want to live where the people can voice an opinion, not just at election day. I want to live where the rule of law doesn’t allow or gloss over such infringments as a citizen’s rights. I want to live where my rights stop when they interfer with yours, and just as importantly, your rights stopping when they interfer with mine!

The sheep thing is kind of funny when you look at the hundreds of French groups and associations accross the land, they have more than 2 members……

  29. Eric……I want to live in a land where people mind their own business. I want to live where people don’t create problems where none exist. I want to live in a land where the english don’t try to control. I want to live where there is peace of mind, integration, harmony, understanding and love for our neighbor……not where there is hatred, jealousy and seperation.

  30. If you want the above Stella, better not move to Quebec or Eastern Ontario.

“The town has a perfect right to decide how it wants to be represented. Signs, what is on the sign, the size of the signs should all be legislated by the bylaws of the town”

So you believe in the local government forcing what language is to go on the business signs -obviously you are not a man in business and that would make many a business man/women very unhappy.

“For the life of me I can’t understand how howard G has gotten so many sheep to follow him. He promotes hatred of the french language, promotes the boycott of french stores, promotes the extermination of the french language…YET, people chose to follow. Just like stella said.”” SHEEP!!!!¨¨”

First of all if your surprised that many people now speak up along with Howard, imagine when more come forward from the masses.

Second you are promoting hatred with your comment above -first of all nobody hates french in The LFA they have french families and extermination of a language -really do you really think people will believe the written garbage you put out?

All that statement tells people the reality that you have been proven many times to be a big*t as well as R*C*ST .

By the way hatefull propaganda where you there to listen to what he said at council?

There was not one single word that would be considered hateful -but please refer to your statement above to see this.

“Eric……I want to live in a land where people mind their own business. I want to live where people don’t create problems where none exist. I want to live in a land where the english don’t try to control.”

Mind there own business -you mean butt out of us francophones taking over!

English don’t want to control they want to be treated as equals by their own government.

GOV should stay out of the language business -its costs us trillions already.

  33. See that`s the difference between this” group`s” view of Canada and my view of Canada..MY view and I am assuming here Richard Ts and Stellabystarlight`s, and millions of other Canadians has respect in its heart….respect for accepting both official languages equally and the contributions of each in Canada`s advancement and welcoming others to participate in the common good…..common ground is served by taxpayers of all regions who vote for their representatatives.. that is democracy…it does not mean everyone agrees .but everyone should respect the foundations….

  34. if you find respect for the foundations offensive… nothing will make you happy ..

  35. @Highlander RE: November 13, 2012 at 10:43 am POST
    http://www.ipolitics.ca/2011/02/04/alberta-must-pay-costsin-bilingual-ticket-case-top-court/
If this goes to supreme court and agreed upon -perhaps set a precedent that even Quebec will have to provide bilingual tickets and signage -or will they use the “notwithstanding ” clause again discriminating against the remaining population?

    ———————

    — I wouldn’t put it past them to use the not withstanding clause.

    Quebec provide ANYTHING in English???
Yeah right, English is the language of the Colonizer, don’t cha know.

    French ONLY tickets anyone?

    https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-UmgF1vdaDj4/UHhY65W22NI/AAAAAAAAAJc/bLZjpRSFWPk/s801/French+ticket.jpg

Besides, they’re too busy pushing English Canada to provide “EVERYTHING” in French for them.

They are so damn petty about this… Check this out
This is side A of a mailing to customers in Quebec

    https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-XjmQK9BMBaQ/UHhaEsX9_QI/AAAAAAAAALQ/XRStE7icekw/s743/Phone+bill+insert+-+Front.jpg

One would think, considering we live in a bilingual country, (which they are the ones pushing for) you would think they could print English on the back side B?… You know, just out of common courtesy… Wonder if there are French words for that. Common courtesy.

Yeah right. Have a look at side B

    https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-LFt4tHRatEo/UHhZ1hRaF4I/AAAAAAAAAK4/pI2l0edNxNg/s744/Phone+bill+insert+-+Back.jpg

Petty. Just sickeningly petty… And you folk Stella, Tremblay etc etc… Standing up for the side that does this kinda cr@p and other similar cr@p … Ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves.

  36. Respect? Where is the respect for the taxpayer?

That is why we need a definition of Francophone ( not the made up one the Ont. Libs created in 2009). We need to know who actually needs help, how to help and why. Adding bilingual to job ads is creating division and only helping a small segment of society at great cost to communities and the country. It is not bringing us together no matter how many road-maps are prepared by Graham Fraser and the L’Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario.

  37. “How to wipe out the Franco Ontarian language and culture” pamphlet written and published by Mr Galganov… now explain to all us millions of Canadians how that is respectful??? personal views and wolf in sheep`s clothing…. taxpayers google your “leader`s” name and see the NO dogs or Anglophones artcile of 2010… entertaining actually…Internet usage has a long memory….Good onSouth Glengarry for holding back on this “resolution”

  38. Millions of Canadians have a right to live in harmony without nterference fro that kind of attitude…..thanks but no thanks

  39. C`est drole et Touchez!

Your view and the franco rights groups view put up the Canadian flag at the franco monument Nov 11 and remove it Nov 12 -What they don’t respect Canada the remaining of the year other then remembrance day and Canada day ?….shove your respect up yours.

    Yours a devoted Canadian ***S***

  40. Looks like we are in for another french exclusive health clinic, this one if for Diabetics

  41. Hailey…..read the article before you speak up…..thinking you were told that before

  42. Hailey, I think it became part of the plan when they realized more patients were needed to stay in business. Anyway, could we not close a couple of buildings and have staff in the same place? It looks more like Francophone job creation and spend more money all the time.
Provide services yes, but lets get some costs under control and actually help patients, the taxpayers no matter the language.

http://www.eohu.ca/aboutus/members_e.php Don’t see much experience running health units, hope they are filling the role well though.
http://www.rssfe.on.ca/index.php?ID=15&Lang=En this group just provides advice and planning for French language health care.

http://www.carrefoursante.org/english/english.html more money spent here and here http://www.champlainlhin.on.ca/SearchPage.aspx?searchtext=francophone

  43. Doth sayeth galganov……”Follow me and I shall give you peace. I will lead you to the land of english only. You will dominate all nations and reign supreme. You are the chosen majority and thus shall rule the universe. No one will come before thee!!” I am your shepherd you and you are my sheep, thus no harm will come to thee.

Come to me those who are blind….I will make you see the light **smile**

  44. I was unable to attend the meeting last night in Lancaster and I would like to be informed on what the outcome was. Thanks

  45. Howard Galganov made his presentation. Council thanked him and informed him that they do not deal with resolutions from presentations on the same night and asked staff to bring the matter back at a future meeting with a staff report.
