Supreme Court of Canada will NOT hear Galganov / Brisson Forced Bilingual Sign Appeal – Breaking

CFN – Human rights champion Howard Galganov reports that today he received the much-anticipated e-mail concerning his petition made to the Supreme Court. The court of last resort was being asked to overturn a decision made by a Superior Court judge that allows muncipalities to over-ride the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Previously an Ontario Superior Court judge ruled that Russell Township violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, but that doing so was acceptable. By a very slim majoriy, the township passed a bylaw which demands that all new exterior commercial signage be in English and French, not one or the other and no provision for other languages. Russell was the fourth Eastern Ontario township to do so.
Today the Township of Russell posted the following Press Statement on their website:
“In light of the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada in regards to the leave of appeal from Galganov / Brisson versus Russell in the matter related to the Bilingual Sign Bylaw, we are extremely pleased that the plaintiffs were denied the hearing” said Mr. Jean Paul St-Pierre, Mayor for the Township of Russell. “It finally brings closure to the legal proceedings that were, in all instances, decided in favor of the Municipality by the court. The Court reiterates the fact that the Township was in its legal rights to adopt such bylaw and that Mr. Howard Galganov, a non-resident of the municipality, was in no position to contest the bylaw. We now can move forward for the benefit of our communities” concluded Mayor St.Pierre.”
How ironic that some Franco businesses and municipal agencies choose not to adhere to the bylaw. The municipal Fire Hall in Embrun boasts a unilingual sign which reads: “Poste de Pompiers”.

And, as we reported recently, the Francophone cultural/entertainment centre recently replaced its sign with a high tech version, but still in French only. An employee of La Maison des Arts told us that they were zoned differently (institutional/non-profit), then said that it’s because they provide French education. Apparently the centre previously had posted a small sign which explained that rationale. A member of the local community informed us that La Maison des Arts provides day care service for the French Catholic School across the street; would one not think that to be considered a business venture?
Pierre Leroux ran for and became a Russell Councillor two years ago; he told CFN that it’s widely known that one of his motivating forces in running for Council was the fact that he didn’t feel it right the way that bilingualism was forced upon local businesses. As for today’s Supreme Court announcement, as a member of Council he’s happy that the Township will not have to pay for an expensive legal battle (which he feels could have been avoided), but as a person he feels that the decision is wrong.

So, what about everyone else? People are asking ‘What’s the problem with being fair and allowing everyone a similar degree of freedom of expression?’ That’s a great question!
In our short clip, viewers can plainly see that the animated sign is unilingual and hear for themselves the explanation we received from a staff member of the arts centre.
Galganov was among the presenters at the recent annual Christmas Luncheon hosted by Canadians for Language Fairness at an Ottawa area restaurant. At the gathering, Galganov told the crowd:
“If the Supreme Court decides that they’re not going to hear the case, then it becomes the law of Canada. Any municipality can legislate, not just on issues of language and culture, but on any of the guarantees in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter is essentially a Charter of Suggestions. Any time a judge or group of judges of one mindset or the other can decide what is to be protected and what is not to be protected it means we have no guarantees. Freedom of Expression is the foremost guarantee we have in any free society.”
In our highlight video clip (unedited footage provided by Danno Saunt) each of the key presenters at the CLF Luncheon (Beth Trudeau, Howard Galganov, Nick Vandergragt, Brian Lilley, Ron Barr and Jack MacLaren) shares an update on their involvement in the ongoing struggle to preserve basic human rights here in Canada.
It is anticipated that Galganov as well as Language Fairness for All and Canadians for Language Fairness will step up their efforts locally and nationally.

Don Smith reports on a variety of topics, notably good news items as well as social justice issues.

I like the idea of a Protest on the Hill for July 4 in the spirit of American Independence from Great Britain. Those colonists were fighting taxation without representation which seems ironic because we the majority in this country are experiencing much the same sort of nonsense that this country’s values hold.
Apparently, our politicians are no longer held accountable and can decide for us willy-nilly what’s important for us. Case-in-point, the issue of bilingualism. Were we, the people, ever consulted over it’s plan and implementation?
Taxation without representation=Guy Lauzon being invited to an important town hall meeting to discuss upholding Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms but ducking out due to the issue being ‘too controversial’.
Great idea Ed, they can contact the Scottish Society of Ottawa to get some highland dancing & bagpipes, the Monarchist League of Canada to hand out British flags, and contact our MP’s to supply Canadian flags. They could easisly get Trudeau to speak, he talks to everyone……

@ Ed & Eric
Those are very good ideas that I’m sure will greatly be appreciated by the organizers, but I wonder, where will they hold that demonstration??
Remember they’re 27,000,000 strong.
Canadians will be coming from all corners of 9 provinces I mean 10. I had forgotten the abused anglos of Québec.
They’ll serely want to be there too!
Or maybe they won’t be allowed to come.
Remember they are prisonners, here in Québec.
Anyways, far too many for the Scotia Center or for Parliament Hill.
What would you think of having this demonstration right on the Airport grounds??
Avoid traffic jams!
I don’t know, Pierre. My guess is that about thirty will show up.
Pierre, I don’t think the anglo’s would try to disrupt traffic (Quebec students / Tamil’s), major arteries ( a few Aboriginals) but may actually rent a large facility if Parliament grounds are not available. Anyway, the groups from Irish to Chinese, you know, the people who came here and learned English among them, could all be contacted.
Pierre the Separatist ,
Do not concern yourself with our dealings ,you concern yourself with your own objective of separating Quebec and making them independent.
That would be the equivalent of the 60 year welfare recipient getting a job today -good luck!
Stella why do you align yourself with a separatist when your intention of commenting here was to stop our apparently small group separating the country ?
Stella and Pierre so what is Really your primary objective other then pushing for french first even if Quebec separates?
So Stella and Pierre you still haven’t explained what the below statement means .
Pierre December 28, 2012 at 12:14 pm
” Say that to the federalists and to the government of Canada. They are the ones who won’t let us go. Over 49% of us voted to seprate in 1995 and, we would probably have had an even higher count had your side played it by the rules”
I hadn’t realized Canada meant “your side” I thought we were all Canadian -or is that a matter of convenience, when its served your purpose ?
So Pierre you were not let go as you wanted -well the majority did not want to separate ,they perhaps knew that Quebec would be destitute and a 3rd world country if it did separate !
Francophones,
Check out this book, it’s fact, all about how your brilliant Trudeau formulated his plan for the the transformation of English to a french Canada with bilingualism. The title belies what he really was.

Know what, we all have lost jobs at some time or other the difference is, we did not blame any else for our shortcomings.
end quote.
Tell me Stella, and be honest on this one. Is losing your job because you don’t speak the same language as your new boss
a short coming. That’s why I and many other Anglophones in a
Crown Corporation lost our jobs.
That is what mandatory bilingualism did to us and in every case we were replaced by a Francophone regardless of their competence.
Moderator please cue the crickets for Ed he’s feeling alone here!
Ken she does not answer valid questions but does reply in favor of propaganda.
LFSA is discriminatory in nature if 5000 people in Toronto are french -it is automatically designated and then starts the bilingual hires only.
Why are ALL the courts in Ontario designated bilingual for 4% of the population and the 14th most spoken language in Ontario?
So now 50% of ALL courts must be bilingual to serve 4% -This is simply to provide francophones with government Jobs .
A make work project?
So how cost effective is it to provide french (bilingual services in all courts in western Ontario for less then .05% of the population?
Money is no object when it comes to forced bilingualism, funny how unaccountable the government is when it comes to the sacred cow of bilingualism!
I still would like to know why she allies herself with the separatist Pierre, when her purpose is to stop separating Canada -which we all know that isn’t her purpose -otherwise she would be arguing(providing propaganda) with Pierre.
@ eric
U bet’cha boy. get the aboriginals to contact them, chinese, etc.
Send them a smoke signal. Save on costs… very important when organizing something that’s going to be this popular, this big.
Well Ken…..the genius, it goes like this. Something I have been saying for a year now….**smile**
Anyone with enough insight and intuition who resides in a country where there are two official languages should have taken the initiative to learn both languages. Language WAS NEVER forced on anyone, it was a personal choice. That being said, if you chose the easy way out and refused to learn french, that was your choice……why blame others for bad choices you made in life?……..ca-vas?
If you moved to China, would you not learn Chinese when that is their official language?
yorlik said “The people of canada ( nine provinces only) do not recognize french as any official language…….come out of your fantasy world yorlee…….only your group would believe such nonsense **smile**
Pierre becareful, your racist redneck is showing. Smoke signals? pfffft Ignorance is bliss.
Bella -b we have all recognized this with Pierre .
But please Stella tell us why you align yourself with a separatist and Ra*i*t like Pierre ?
You have stated oh so many times that you are on here to stop apparently our group from separating the country -yet you align yourself with a separatist?
So what is it Stella ,why are you not fighting with the separatist Pierre ?
Waiting for an answer Stella!
Pierre’s Canada does not include Quebec.
Oh, hey Stella… There you are… You’re back. How did your jaunt over to da hodder side go? Did you let them know that there really is ONLY ONE NATION? They MUST have been so disappointed to be told the truth. Especially by you. Mon Dieu. I hope they can still celebrate the end to official bilingualism in this country as ONE NATION anyways…
–
Stella, please be careful and be sure to take your meds. You are starting to say things that just are not making a lot of sense again. Something like this…
Stella said, “If you moved to China, would you not learn Chinese when that is their official language?”
–
You seem to have some trouble with the distinction between the term “official language” and “common language” You already live in a country where yes, there are “two official languages” BUT.. that DOES NOT mean there are two “common languages” in this ONE country. ca vas?
ONE country
— CANADA —
and ONE official language
—ENGLISH —
Get it straight eh ! Comprend tu?
–
French is definitely a cute, “SECOND language” in CANADA. I say we keep it contained in the “province” of Quebec where it’s “cuteness” can be appreciqated from a distance and visited now and then.
–
Oh and btw, you are mistaken… It was not me who said, “The people of Canada ( nine provinces only) do not recognize French as any official language…….”
–
You are quoting someone else’s words under my name. So perhaps it is YOU that should, “come out of your fantasy world.”
And bella-b… As i am sure you already know, racisism is part of their nature.
Just a thought that’s off topic. To all those who love to b!tch and whine about the French language, spare a few minutes of your precious time to think about the tens of thousands of homeless people in Ontario who will be trying to stay warm tonight, which will be the coldest night so far this winter.
That’s a very good point Ed and glad we live in Ontario where almost everyone that wants to stay out of the cold can.
@belle-b
get a life, will you. I’ve been defending the aboriginals, since I entered this blog, saying that they should have been recognised as a founding nation of Canada,
You never said anything in the defense of our first nations.
the little you did say was to put down the francophone that shows that you are the redneck racist, not me.
Pierre this is the largest newspaper in Eastern Ontario. Sorry to burst your bubble dude. It’s not some personal blog 🙂

“To all those who love to b!tch and whine about the French language, spare a few minutes of your precious time to think about the tens of thousands of homeless people in Ontario who will be trying to stay warm tonight.”
Just to think of those billions spent a year on language how that money could be better spent helping those tens of thousands of disadvantaged rather then pushing an agenda.
Try thinking of that one ED! Ah but language is better then food and housing the disadvantaged isn’t it?
624 million a year in Ontario can feed and house many of those disadvantaged !
2.4+ billion could help a lot of unfortunate souls rather then one cultural group.
So yes think of those tens of thousands of those culturally diverse homeless, but keep in mind what 2.4+ billion allocated to one culture could do to alleviate that problem that affects so many.
So yes government priority is language which takes more priority then those who are truly disadvantaged .
And we call ourselves a just society?
Sorry Pierre bella-b is right on the money with you ….the more you write the more its proven.
I have been reading posts on this site for a while.
It seems to me, that the way to eliminating this forced bilinguaism policy is from within.
The west will never embrace it. For that matter anywhere past eastern Ontario will never embrace it.
People that run for political office, sooner or later, probably later, will turn the corner here.
The key is Ontario, in the short run.
Certaintly the major cities of Toronto, Windsor, Mississauga , London, barrie, Orillia, Newmarket, Oshawa, Whitby, etc.etc. will not embrace this silly concept.
French, is simply not prevelant in these communities and never will be.
If one travels west of Ontario even less so.
I believe that perhaps at the people level is where your strength lies.
I listened to the roy green show, out of Hamilton, and it was very informative regarding the plight of hospital workers in Cornwall.
This struck a nerve in The hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Niagara falls Wellend and St.catheraines areas.
Believe me your message is getting out there and people are taking notice.
Please keep your efforts going, you have much more support than you think.
The post from this guy ed, and stella and pierre, are very, very infinitile and silly. I would never, respond to those that are characterized as such
I would treat them as if they didn’t exist. Qiute frankly, its hard to believe that any normal person would respond to anything they say.

U bet’cha boy. get the aboriginals to contact them, chinese, etc.
Send them a smoke signal.
I am sure the natives would not think that statement as defending them -more like insulting them …..but of course they are not french so what does it matter in your ethnocentric world(Quebec).
Give me a break Pierre. You defend no one but yourself and your preferred language. Why don’t you ask stella how I defend the natives against ignorant statements? Why don’t you educate yourself before you just spew such insulting bs?
So Stella 2 questions
(1)-IF LANGUAGE ON SIGNS MEANS NOTHING WHY ARE THE BIG BOX STORES BRINGING THE QUEBEC GOVERNMENT TO COURT OVER THEIR SIGNS?
(2)-IF YOU ARE HERE TO SUPPOSEDLY DEFEND CANADA AGAINST OUR GROUP FROM SEPARATING THE COUNTRY -WHY DO YOU ALIGN YOURSELF WITH PIERRE THE SEPARATIST?
STILL WAITING FOR AN ANSWER!
OTHERS ARE WATCHING STELLA !
WOULD YOU PREFER TO AVOID QUESTIONS THAT MAY SHOW YOUR TRUE SIDE !
@ Admin
I don’t know what you’re talking about. But you did’nt bust my bubble
I did’nt talk about your newspaper personal blog or otherwise.
You’ve got me confused with somebody else.
I’m only concerned with the racism and the bigotry that I read on your newspaper from the other gang. You keep on reading, I’ll keep on explaining and present proof to back me up.
But for now, it’s supertime!
Ah yes Highlander. There isn’t a problem on the planet that can’t be blamed on the French language.
Carry on…. I’m sure yous will.

Thanks Leo for your response ,the whole point of this is to make people aware that many people do not agree with forced bilingualism.
We post here to provide valid stats and varying forms of info from government data to news articles to inform the many viewers who may not comment.
This site allows the opportunity for people to voice concerns on either side as communication is key to resolve the discrimination through language policies.
Thanks Leo for participating.
Highlander……Pierre is entitled to his opinion, whether we agree with him or not is our choice, however, I must say that Pierre is a well versed man who comes across as being sincere and knows what he is talking about with facts and proof to back his comments.
piper said “So what is it Stella ,why are you not fighting with the separatist Pierre” ? I am not from Quebec, my concern is Ontario…..as your’s should be.
Yorlik….my sincerest apologies, it was tap tap who wrote that….again I am so so sorry. Yep yorlik…..I am thrilled to be back among my MANY english friends. **smile** you especially.
BTW yorlik…the term “common language” does not exist in this country. It is something you and your gang once again fabricated.
Yep when this language thing gets off the ground what a wonderful world it will be. Again…..the Gov will continue to spend our tax dollars however they see fit…..
leo for your information….the Cornwall hospital is hiring unilingual english nurses, you can call roy green’s show tomorrow and let him know and while you are at it……let Hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Niagara falls Wellend and St.catheraines areas know also……perhaps roy can do that on his show **smile**
Yep the entire country is behind the english freedom fighters……OH OK!!! To be quite honest with you all…..it won’t change a thing……except give you bragging rights, then what?
Highlander wrote, “Just to think of those billions spent a year on language how that money could be better spent helping those tens of thousands of disadvantaged rather then pushing an agenda.

In light of the brilliant counter points Highlander made above, I am sure everyone MUST realize that any positive comments that give credence to these, diversionary — hey, what’s that over there — type tactics right in the heat of the moment from these bleps bleps only emboldens them even further.
–
And Pierre, for the record… Only someone that would make a comment suggesting that we should contact our native friends to come with us to stand up to your ilk by saying, “send some smoke signals” is the ONLY one that could be, and should be, considered a bigot. (You will notice from ALL my postings I rarely use that term.)
–
Oh and Stella.. C’mon, please tell us how your meeting went when you went to tell the French there was ONLY ONE true COUNTRY.
🙂
My God highlander……..get off your high horses….LOL OMG you are getting paranoia…..
now piper to answer your second question…..as for the big box stores, that is their trademark name known around the world……tu comprends?…..if not, I can explain **smile**
The absurdity and ridiculousness of the language on signs comes into play when you guys try to get places like SG to pass language by-laws on small privately owned businesses that don’t even have an issue to begin with…..tu comprends?….if not I can explain **smile**
I wanted to highlight with viewers the kind of political satire the Quebec show called, Bye Bye reports and forms skits around. http://www.radio-canada.ca/emissions/bye_bye/2012/ My wife and I watched the show on New Year’s Eve where it was aptly named, Bye Bye 2012 as shown on Radio Canada.
Pay specific attention at 26:49 that highlights the racism of ethnocentric thinking of the mayor of Saguenay. Of course it is trumped up – but this is the type of thinking we’re highlighting that comes with Quebec-style politics. Check out the Montreal construction contract frauds as well.
Most may not understand what is being said but you’ll get the jest of it.
Many thanks,
Cory

Brilliant POST leo, Well said. Welcome to posting.

I must say, i gave up responding to most of them some time ago but have recently found myself dragged back in to a limited degree. The thing is, ( i think i can speak for most) we realize there are some who watch and don’t post. Many of us feel if we don’t repudiate what “they” say, there MAY BE SOME who just watch and — might — take it as reality, which… IS A SCARY thought, but true.

However, in the end you are right and it’s probably best to ignore them which, again you are right, we shoudl all simply do.

Amazing! 730 (and counting) comments on a story about bilingual signs in the Township of Russell! Boggles the mind.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/quebecvotes2012/story/2012/08/15/montreal-quebec-election-wednesday.html
This is what one CBC poster had to say after reading the article from the above url having to do with Saguenay’s mayor, Jean Tremblay.
“This is laughable. Only in Quebec can racists straddle the fine line between “culture” and “cultural superiority” and actually debate it. They make the rules up as they go, with the bottom line being whatever is the most French, should win. Why should the rest of Canada be dragged through this civil rights backwater?
Jean Tremblay is “outraged”? He says Benhabib “doesn’t understand our culture at all”. Marois says that Benhabib’s integration into Quebec culture has been “exemplary”. Legault compares different races to academic performance. We need secularism, but the cross stays in the Assemblé Nationale. What is it going to be? All we need now is “Curly” trying to scare the Anglos with the threat of separation … wait a minute, too late.
They are all the same ethnocentrics trying to appeal to a basically ethnocentric population. Our Nation (Canada) is better than that. Theirs isn’t!.”
Wow, enough said. And now we see it in Eastern Ontario=Russel Township; to be more exact.
How many unilingal English administrators is the CCH hiring?
How many Unlingual English lab techs are they hiring?
How many Unilingual English section chiefs and managers are they hiring?
My understanding is that a population of 46,000 that well over 95% is English.
Why would that community need any bilingualism at all ?
Who are they going to serve in french?
The communities that I previously mentioned, are getting tuned in to the bilingual issues taking place in easter Ontario.
The communities I mentioned, for the most part are upper middle class and afluent.
They tend to act under the radar and with an influencial force, behind the scenes, with a large degree of wealth , and therefore power.
It is my understanding that people of influence are taking note as to what is happening in eastern Ontario, They do not want any type of bilingualism in their communities, nor would they tolerate it.
The farther one goes from quebec, the less the french fact plays a role or is deemed important or necessary.
This is why only 12% of candians are bilingual. This is a number that is also dropping fast.
It is only a matter of time, and the evolution of a leader, and tide will indeed turn.
Forgive me if I don’t respond to the people who are anti-English ,bias and out of touch with reality
@ Highlander
Two questions:
Why do you not answer questions for a change?
Why do you align yourself with edudyorlik and tap tap and others who admit they want to break up the country… I’ve never suggested anything of the sort.
@ edudyorlik
Nobody disputes that english is the common language of Canada.
So get off trying to prove that it is.
But, the term nation has more than one definition. Check it out in your dictionary.
You choose to use it as meanig country and that’s fine but nation
also has other definitions such as any groups of men living on a given territory subjected or not to the same government. That second definition would apply to Québec and to the First nations. So, the Prime Minister was not wrong and everybody else was not wrong. You were splitting hairs and it does’nt matter and it sure does’nt prove any of your points.
You say that racism is part of our nature.
Well, since I’m using the dictionary to prove my points, I checked out racism. And the definition of racism is: “The theory of those who aim to unite all the elements of a same race into one state. (I must point out that the use of the word racism is also used to define this theory in the case of religion, ethnicity ,etc.)
And that’s exacly what you guys are trying to do with Canada by forcing everybody to work in english only , advertise in english only to buy in english only, etc. You, effectivelly are trying to kill the french language
Stella and I are not trying to kill the english language nor are the governments or the courts. All of us are not the racists, by definition, you(s) are… But knowing you I know that on top of everybody else being wrong you will say that the dictionary is wrong too.
@ Leo
I believed that you understood the situation when reading the first half of your post because you talked about what you had read but then you gave your opinion and you blew it.
You were right, the west will never embrace forced bilingualism and neither will southern Ontario or the Maritimes. They won’t have to. Only some anglos in eastern Ontario, in north Ontario in N.B. and in Québec will.
Dispite what the other group here, a few greedy columnists and broascasters are trying to made Canadians believe (fear mongering pays) bilingualism is mostly a local issue Get it, it applies where the two group live together and interact.
C’est tout!
@ Pierre
Common language does not exist in this country? Ha ha ha…What are you smoking? Even in Ontario, where most francophones are concentrated, 92% of the province population know ENGLISH.
@leo
I too cannot comprehend why some people would respond to Stella’s “fraud squad”, thus validating their mockery and plain bs.
@ Leo. Thanks for sharing that bit of info. Very encouraging.
As for Stella. CCH hiring English only nurses…well Stella you may be right but these unilingual English nurses/lab techs are not walking into the hospital and being hired on the spot. They have been working at the hospital for many many years as part-time staff and still would probably be part-time staff had it not been for the good Doctor’s letter.
I know how yous English freedom-fighters can get the attention yous think yous deserve. Self-immolation is a very effective headline grabber. When yous have your big Parliament Hill demo this summer with the Highland dancers and bikini contest, yous should have a couple of your lower-tier soldiers set themselves on fire. The whole world would sit up and pay attention to the horrors of bilingualism if videos of burning freedom-fighters were on You tube. Even CBC would cover that.
Just a suggestion.
@ nat
I think we posted at the same time but, I’ve already a said that english is the common language of Canada.
Those, you call the fraud squad are the only ones who tell the truth around here, Don’t be such a fool stop, look and listen before you post… Sooner or later you’ll understand that you’re making a fool of yourself, maybe worst.
Doesn’t English Canada pay for this bilingualism policy no one wants?
From where I stand, there are approx 28 million English canadians paying for a policy ( Forced bilingualism ) which only 12% of the population embrace, if that.
This makes no economic sense. Why should the majority of canadians pay for a failed policy? Its pure stupidy
Because governments say we are bilingual, doesn’t make it so.
Its the people that control, and they are not for forced bilingualism and never will be.
Western canadian populations are rising faster than any region of the country. As is Ontario.
Over time ,do these pro-bilingual people, not realize that this policy will go out, it has to, there will be very few politicans able to support it after the increases in population in the west.
Their population increase is just starting to rise to the apex, say another 5-10 years. «Their representation in the parliament of canada will also increase .
As well, just plain taxpayers, already fed up paying for this nonsesne ,will become even more agitated and begin to sway political policy.
In addition, quebec will probaby separate, certainly they will win one of these referendums , the law averages you know.
Besides, with the amount of people, both french and English, leaving quebec, it is becoming obvious that both business and populace are becoming all too aware that this is a place quebec) they do not want to be.
My sister, an anglophone who works for Bell, in Montreal, has told me, that alleast 10 senior amagers, have applied to leave. These are all bilingual people.
Their children howver, cannot be educated in the language of their choice, so they have applied to leave.
In the business communities, there are many, many stories such as this, that never gets reported, and goes under the radar.
These are managers and industralists that can get hired anywhere, and many of them of just so fed up with quebec and her anti-english stance ,its just not worth it.
Also, major employers like the Gap, Best Buy Wal-Mart, are also ready to leave.
What does this say about quebec and its anti-English policies
Come, on who needs the place or even wants it
And certain people want to extend this policiy beyond the quebec border, good luck with that
People will simply not tolerate it, government or not.
Well at least the FRAUD SQUAD know who they are
The only voices of reason are the three stooges
S,P, E
Not once, has any of these people backed up anything they say.
There posts, consist of eddy bababy making refernce to household utensils, or trying to amock a serious gathing by buffoonery, and quite, frankly ,stupidy.
Stella, well, she is in a place, the political and lingustic twilightzone. She simply has no clue
She won`t repond to facts challenges, she has no ooncept of History, and sadly has no understanding of human behaviour
The there is pierre, who spends the majority of his time trying to prove he is right.

Hi rosie, long time no see
Rosie your posts are always full of suppositions.
You probably lost a job because your french was not good enough and the part time workers would probably still would be part-time staff if…
Suppositions are not good enough. Try to base your opinion on some facts, please.
@ Ed
Good point about self-immolation. That’s their game, ain’t it?
But, notice, the hate trip to Parliament Hill.
They’re already leaving that idea, behind.
@ Leo jan. 2, 9:35pm
Some good points, some good questions and some good and bad conclusions, in that post.
I’ll respond to it seriously, tomorrow.
And I hope you’ll recieve it seriously too.
Otherwise it’s all a waste of time, eh!
Nighty night!

From where I stand, there are approx 28 million English canadians paying for a policy ( Forced bilingualism ) which only 12% of the population embrace, if that.

This makes no economic sense. Why should the majority of canadians pay for a failed policy? Its pure stupidy.

Another great post leo. Touchet…

has Danny Williams spilling the beans on a deal between the “province” of Quebec and Quebec Hydro have which sees to it that Quebec receives MUCH MORE in transfer payments from the ROC than they deserve. It also has Mr. Williams mentioning 26 Embassies the “province” of Quebec has. This statement by Mr. Williams is basically telling the ROC that Quebec is acting like a “country” while receiving money from Canadians tax payers as if it is still a province and is also basically challenging the ROC to WAKE UP and DO SOMETHING about it.

Oh and btw, I was wondering… Did anyone ask you if you agreed to having our national anthem altered and changed?

Yep leo……the entire country wants to leave. They all want to move to the middle East where TRUE DEMOCRACY REIGNS.
My goodness Ed, Self-immolation, really? Have you been playing too many computer games in your kids basement to think this is clever or funny?
I think there is already enough self sacrifice by business owners being refused a Charter right and people being forced to learn another language to even apply for more and more jobs because of a perceived need or artificial ideal section on a checklist.
Good points Leo, we have become a nation of sheep afraid to make noise when something is baaaaaad.
Nat, the last census showes Ontario residents having knowledge of English at 97.1% now.
@ Pierre,
I have read your pst posts,
Please do not repond to my post, as I will not read what you say, I have heard enough from you stella and ed, to know that your posts are never rooted in fact or serious intelligent discussion
@ eric
Self sacrfice is Rosie crying that she’s lost a job because she’s not bilingual enough.
It’s ken doing the same and,
it’s you pretending that business owners are suffering because of the bilingual sign law in 4 mun. with an important francophone presence.
That’s what we call self immolation.
@ tap tap tap
All I do is back up what I say but you have to have an open mind to see it or to admit it and you(s) don’t.
That’s why your effort to kill bilingualism will never go anywhere but here.
