CFN – I love Lift Off here in Cornwall. More on that in another story; but this weekend a few people started yakking with me about my old poll about the most corrupt leaders in Cornwall Ontario.
It caused a huge commotion and Claude McIntosh wrote about it in his column in the Freeholder.
Some of the those on the list just didn’t get that I’m not accusing anyone of being corrupt. I’m simply asking the public their thoughts.
Frankly you can be corrupt without breaking any laws.

These verbs mean to ruin utterly in character or quality: was corrupted by limitless power; debased himself by pleading with the captors; a youth debauched by drugs and drink; indulgence that depraves the moral fiber; perverted her talent by putting it to evil purposes; a proof vitiated by a serious omission.
Being corrupt of course doesn’t mean you’re all bad or all good. Corruption sometimes can make good things happen; but generally that’s not the case.
So dear Viewers of CFN it’s time for the 2013 “Who do you think is the most Corrupt Official or Leader in Cornwall Ontario?”

If we wish to reduce corrupt officials in any level of government; We just need to reduce the number of officials and sizes of governments. If Mr. Guy Lauzon was the Mayor, the MPP and the MP of Stormont Dundas South Glengarry, he would represent all the government actions upon the local citizens. If corruption existed it would be limited.
I have been saying it for a long time now that Cornwall needs not more than 5 councellors at most if not 4. Cornwall is a very small town and bigger cities like London Ontario and other places make do with a lot less. This is a form of corruption to put in 10 councellors plus the mayor and these people are living off the taxpayers money and are dragging down the town in their filth. It is long past the time to boot the entire gang out and start from the beginning and not these “inbred clique” that controls everything. Do not vote for any of the inbred clique ever again. There are names going around out there where some are being trained so as to bow down to the clique and don’t vote any of them in. If this is to happen then Cornwall has to be taken over by another municipality or the province. This is really bad indeed.
Though Bob is pretty bad I think Bernadette has to hold the torch for corruption. If she is lawyer she should be taking a stand one way or the other.
Did anyone ever find out why Chad and the other late applicant were allowed to apply for the position with the Cornwall fire department after the date for receiving applications was closed?
Bob is most corrupt, but as you said Hailey, Bernadette should be ashamed of herself. She is corrupt and does not follow the rules. Just because you are a lawyer, mayor or whatever, does not put one above the law.
It would be naive to expect politicians not to have their own personal agenda but they should at least be able to put on a good act about caring for the taxpayers needs and concerns.
I guess you start to see their true colours when they get too tired or too arrogant to act.
Hailey the whole crew is completely corrupted to the hilt and they all have to be fired. I wouldn’t hire Bernadette Clément as a lawyer either knowing what kind she is. Bare Ass is mighty crooked and corrupt and has done much worse getting involved with Willie Wise and accepting stolen money to buy the polluted land and building of the “tax mahal” and I would never live there to pay for such a dirty, low life deal. There is way too much corruption and the entire bunch has to be fired and replaced by outsiders. None are fit to rule and not even fit to be a dog catcher.
Why would you only list 7 councillors’ if you are not accusing anyone on your list of being corrupt. Should you not list all 10 then. The message you are portraying with the poll seems pretty clear of who you think is corrupt – or have an axe to grind.
Bill the list came from suggestions from a group and of course there is a selection titled “OTHER”
I went for Gilles Latour. Other than laundering money and churning Kinsmen profits, he’s a self-serving creep for a window salesman. Why wasn’t Helene Periard on the poll.

Two economic development dudes. They only need a senior manager working part-time at that. Unless we need to greet Indians at the airport in state of emergency. Wow I would suggest that you take your meds and leave normal people alone. You have plenty of your own problems to deal with.
Jason Setnyk, with all his negativity and uselessness. Infantile in his ideas, and of no use to a community such as Cornwall. Hopefully someone will run this wannabe out of town.

So what’s Helen Periard up to now? Doesn’t she have enough money? Is she going to become mayor? What’s next, “Chairman of The Board”? Frank Sinatra would turn in his grave!
Jaime, I’m not too sure about this poll, it’s not cool, in fact it makes the CFN look like a rag instead of an online newspaper. Who ever happens to read CFN or any other community newspaper gets that our entire city council has enough collective shame to hang their heads and to hand in their office keys. Who is the worse, thats’ easy, it’s the Mayor cause he is head of the gong show, throw in Ms. Clements and Elaine McDonald and the old boys and you got a melting pot putrid enough to make ya walk away quickly holding your nose. Lets vote them out instead of bitching about their antics. Why is the Executive Director of the Agape Center on this list? Whats her story besides the sunshine list salary she receives from running the joint?
To Newsworthy, One name on this list is clique obsessed and the person is being conditioned to carry on the corruption and be a puppet to their desires. A real wolf in sheeps clothing and the blonde hair and phony smile does not fool me to know that this person is just new breed of the old gang. I hope Cornwall wakes up to see this persons real agenda coming out in the next election. The next election in my opinion needs change for a progressive uncorrupt people without any personal agenda other than to serve their sunshine friends but to do the job of an elected official to represent All the people of this community.
