Town Hall Closure

RFP No. 10-2013 Splash Pad Construction

RFP documents can be obtained at the Town Hall, 2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault, up to the day prior to the RFP closing date. Submissions clearly marked and addressed to the Clerk, will be received at the above noted address no later than 11:00 AM on the closing date.
South Stormont Chamber of Commerce
The South Stormont Chamber of Commerce will hold their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, August 20 at 7:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the South Stormont Community Hall located at 2 Mille Roches Road in Long Sault. Elections of members of the executive committee will be on the agenda. All members of the Chamber are encouraged to attend.
EVER WONDERED WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR RECYCLING
AFTER YOU BRING IT TO THE CURB?
All recyclables from the Township of South Stormont are processed at the City of Cornwall’s recycling plant. At the plant, the items are separated and sorted into categories and then sold to secondary markets, where they will be transformed into new consumer goods such as clothing and construction materials. It is estimated that only 6% of materials received at the recycling plant are returned to the landfill.

Addressing Your “Address”
Please be aware that the Township is not responsible for undelivered mail. Please review your invoices to confirm the mailing address is complete, including a post office box number if applicable. Should any changes be required, kindly contact the Finance Department.
Property Tax Bills
The June installment of the final property tax bill was due June 28 and is now past due; penalties have been applied to overdue amounts. As a friendly reminder, the final installment is due September 30.
Utility Billing (Water/Sewer for the period January to June, 2013
Water meters are currently being read. Invoices are anticipated to be mailed in the near future. Once processed, property owners will have at least thirty days to pay.

NEVER Leave A Campfire Unattended

Don’t start a fire outdoors unless conditions will allow the fire to burn safely from when it is started until it is put out.Always have adult supervision when you are around a fire.

Build a campfire on rocks or sand.

Don’t put rocks around a campfire. When you go to put it out, the rocks can hide small pieces of wood that are still burning.

Keep your campfire small and under control.

Don’t build campfires underneath trees.

Always leave a bucket of water and a shovel near a campfire.

Make sure an adult extinguishes the fire completely before leaving.

Seaway Train Show – Long Sault Arena
The region’s largest model train show is coming to the Long Sault Arena on July 20 and 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Model trains will be on display and can also be purchased or sold. For more information, please contact Rudy at 613-936-6873. Admission is $5.00 per adult or $3.00 per child (under 12 years old).
Roller Derby – Splash Pad Fundraiser
Come support your local Power Dames Roller Derby Girls as they face the team from Kahnawake on Saturday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Long Sault Arena. Admission cost for the event will be a donation to the South Stormont Splash Pad project with all funds matched by event sponsor Scotiabank.
South Stormont Minor Hockey Association
All registration and tryout fees for the 2013-2014 hockey season are payable to the registrar on or before August 1, 2013. Complete registration packages are available at the Long Sault Arena during business hours or can be downloaded from the official website at www.southstormontselects.com. All information is now available online. Please download the registration package and follow the methods available for submitting your registration. The Association will not be accepting any fees during the tryout season; all players registered after August 1, 2013 will no longer qualify for the early bird registration rate.

AROUND TOWN
7th Annual Ingleside Firefighter Challenge
Hosted by the Ingleside Firefighters Association
This popular annual event will take place on Saturday, July 20 in front of the Ingleside Shopping Plaza starting at 2:30 p.m. Cheer on your local fire departments as they compete against other volunteer firefighters from eastern Ontario. Event includes children’s inflatables and petting zoo (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.), an evening meal from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (limited quantities, tickets can be purchased from any Ingleside firefighter or by sending an email to inglesidefireassociation@gmail.com. ), refreshments and the “Shiners” band providing outdoor evening entertainment.
Let’s applaud all individuals involved with providing such a “DAZZLING” display of fireworks on Canada Day along the shoreline of the St. Lawrence in Long Sault as well as all the community Canada Day festivities.
