Long Sault Market Still Alive and Well in September by Reg Coffey

CFN – Yes, the Long Sault Farmer’s Market is still open. A lot of people assumed that the market would be closed at the end of August. As you can see above there is still lots of sunshine and warm temperatures left this year for produce to keep growing. The rest of us non-agricultural vendors will still be at the market as well with our locally produced products available for your shopping pleasure.

It may get cold and the wind may try to blow us away but the market will be open, rain or shine, every Friday afternoon from 2 PM to 6PM until Thanksgiving. For the freshest locally grown produce, terrific local bakery goodies, delicious jams and jellies, fantastic fudge and chocolate, heart healthy buffalo meat, tantalizing Thai food and simply awesome (even if I do say so myself) fresh brewed and locally roasted coffee come out and join us on the grass in front of the shopping mall in Long Sault. You won’t be disappointed.

I was saddened to hear of the fire at St. Jacobs Farmer’s Market this past week. It is the largest market in Canada and one well worth emulating. Fortunately only the one large building burned down and the market is up and running again. I visited the market last summer and to me the best part of the market was the small vendors and the buskers that were away from the main market buildings anyway. I am certain that they will rebuild as soon as they can.
