OPP Traffic Stop Nets Credit Card Copy Device – POLICE BLOTTER for Cornwall Ontario Area for Friday Oct 4, 2013

Cornwall, ON – David Campbell, 41 of Cornwall was arrested on the 30th of September, 2013 and charged with breaching his recognizance for associating with someone known to use drugs and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of the 30th of September, 2013 during a traffic stop the man was found to be in the company of someone known to use drugs. He was later taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 3rd of October, 2013 and charged with 5 counts of Theft Under. It is alleged that between the 19th of September and the 29th of September, 2013 the youth made 5 different transactions using someone else’s bank card without their consent. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation on the 3rd of October, 2013 the youth was located at a Miron Street address, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The youth was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. The youth’s name was not released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

IMPAIRED

 

            Cornwall, ON – Jerry Szemborn, 66 of Cornwall was arrested on the 3rd of October, 2013 and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. It is alleged that on the 3rd of October, 2013 the man who was under the influence of alcohol was found to be operating a motor vehicle when he was involved in a collision in the area of Thirteenth Street and Daily Street. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released with a future court date.

IMAPIRED DRIVER

(North Glengarry) – On October 03, 2013 at approximately 7:45pm, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding on County Road 20, South Glengarry Township. The stop revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Derek BARTCH (29) of Cornwall was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving While Ability Impaired
– Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood

He was released to appear in Cornwall court on October 16, 2013. He was further charged with the following Provincial offences;

– Speeding
– Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero
– Driving with Open Container of Liquor

 

COPYING DEVICE SEIZED

(South Dundas) – On October 03, 2013 at approximately 10:00pm, SD&G OPP officers had the occasion to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The stop resulted in officers observing and seizing a device used for copying credit card data.

Mohamed HUSSEIN (21) of Toronto was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of Instrument for Copying Credit Card Data

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall this date (04Oct13).
