Break the Silence……Use your Voice
Support the prevention of child abuse during the month of October.
Child abuse is a community problem and finding solutions depends on involvement among people throughout the community. Effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships created among social service agencies, schools, religious and civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community. Let’s become more aware of the negative effects of child abuse and its prevention within our community!
Local Government Week in the Township of South Stormont is October 20 to 26, 2013!
The best costumes are light coloured or bright and reflective. Keep costumes short to avoid tripping and falling. Minimize the risk of contact with candles or other ignition sources by avoiding baggy pants, loose frills or billowing skirts. Teach children to STOP, DROP and ROLL should their clothing catch fire.
Always carry a flashlight with you as you accompany your children.
Battery-powered candles, lights or glow sticks are safe to use to light up your carved pumpkins and other decorations. Avoid using real candles as they can start a fire.
