Cornwall Ontario 1st Sexual Assault of 2014 Bank Robbery in Ottawa! Police Blotter for Friday Jan 3, 2013 OPP OPS CPS

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Christina Lafrance, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on December 31st, 2013 and charged with theft under $5000, breach of recognizance for being out without her surety and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on December 31st, 2013 the woman attended the Cornwall Square and removed a shirt from one of the stores without making any attempts to pay for it. The woman was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the police investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Steven Doychak, 41 of Cornwall was arrested on December 31st, 2013 and charged with breaching a recognizance for being out past curfew and for having consumed alcohol. It is alleged that on December 31st, 2013 the intoxicated man was spotted by police in the area of William Street and Marlborough Street when he evaded police by running away. The man was then located at his residence, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Mathiew Labrecque, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on January 2nd, 2014 and charged with breaching his probation order for failing to keep the peace, failing to notify a change of address and not abiding by a curfew. He was also charged with breaching a recognizance for breaching a curfew and not residing at a specific address. It is alleged that on November 11th, 2013 police attended the last known address of the man to make sure he was in compliance of his release conditions when they learned that the man no longer resided there. An investigation ensued and on January 2nd, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Kevin Greer, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on December 29th, 2013 on the strength of an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court in 2009. It is alleged that on December 29th, 2013 the man was located at a local bar by police and taken into custody on the strength of the warrants. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

 

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on January 1st, 2014 and charged with two counts of assault and two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on January 1st, 2014 the youth was involved in a verbal argument when she pushed her sister and her mother. She then threw a knife at her sister and struck her mother with another knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released with a court date of January 30th, 2014. Her name was not released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE

 

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 2nd, 2014 and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. It is alleged that on January 2nd, 2014 the man inappropriately touched his 11-year-old niece. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released with a court date of February 5th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

DRUG WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – On December 18th, 2013 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed  drug warrants at two Burton Street addresses and as a result of the warrants Derek Ladouceur, 26, Sara Dixon, 20 and Shirleen Poitras, 65 all of Cornwall were arrested and charged as follows:

 

Derek Ladouceur:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Proceeds of Crime
  • Breach of Probation X2 for failing to keep the peace and for being in possession of drugs

 

Sara Dixon:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Proceeds of Crime

 

Shirleen Poitras:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marijuana
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Marijuana

 

It is alleged that during the execution of the warrant the following was located:

  • 42.0 grams of cocaine
  • .6 grams of marijuana
  • 357 grams of marijuana
  • .4 grams of cocaine
  • $650.00 Canadian currency

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be approximately $7800.00. All three were released from custody and are to appear in court on January 14th, 2014 to answer to the charges.

 

ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY, RESIST ARREST, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 2nd, 2013 and charged with escape lawful custody, resist arrest and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on January 2nd, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with a domestic incident and was placed under arrest as a result. The man was then transported to the hospital as he indicated he wasn’t feeling well. Once at the hospital the man escaped lawful custody and fled the area. He was located moments later and was taken into custody after a brief struggle with police. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the domestic incident.

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 30th, 2013 and charged with breaching his undertaking for having communicated with his ex-girlfriend despite being on conditions not to and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on December 25th, 2013 the man sent a text message to his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 30th, 2013 police located the man at his residence, took him into custody and charged accordingly. The man was then transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a December bank robbery.

On December 13, 2013, at approximately 3:37 pm, two male suspects entered a bank situated along the 3700 block of Strandherd Drive in Barrhaven. Each suspect approached a bank representative and produced notes demanding money. The suspects indicated they were armed though no weapons were seen. The suspects fled the bank with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspects are described as follows (see attached images):
#1- Caucasian male, 18-20 years, approximately 6’00″(183 cm), slender build, black coat with hood, black pants, wearing a balaclava or similar face covering.
#2- Male, 18-20 years, darker complexion, approximately 5’02″(157 cm), stocky build, brown coat, with a “hoodie” underneath the coat, wearing a scarf.

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service West District Investigations have charged two Ottawa men following an altercation on Caldwell Avenue on December 31, 2013, at approx. 8:30pm where a male victim suffered serious injuries.

• Barry DUNDAS, 67 years old of Ottawa was charged with Aggravated Assault and Possess Weapon Dangerous.
• Dominique HUPE, 34 years old of Ottawa was charged with Assault.

(North Dundas) – On 31Dec13, at approximately 9:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a mischief on Main St. Winchester, On.

The investigation revealed that a 40yr old male (John VAN BRIDGER of Winchester) damaged a residence that he was visiting.

The male was arrested and faces a charge of:

– Mischief Under $5,000
He is scheduled to appear 04Feb14 in Morrisburg court

(North Dundas) – Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) O.P.P. advised that results of a post mortem conducted on a South Mountain man (Ralph DOWDALL 69yrs) have revealed the death as non – suspicious in nature.
