            Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 18th, 2014 and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on July 18th, 2014 during an argument with his 23-year-old ex-common-law wife the man grabbed her by the arm. The man then assaulted a 28-year-old man who attempted to intervene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man who was still in the area was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

THREATS

            Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Morrisburg woman was arrested on July 18th, 2014 and charged with threats to property. It is alleged that on July 17th, 2014 during a phone conversation the woman threatened to have persons attend her 37-year-old ex- room mate’s location and cause damage to his vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 18th, 2014 police attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the woman was in custody on an unrelated matter. She was charged accordingly and returned to court staff for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION BREAK IN TOOLS, TRESPASS BY NIGHT

            Cornwall, ON – Scott Best, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on July 19th, 2014 and charged with break and enter, possession of break in tools and trespass by night. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 19th, 2014 the man was spotted on a bicycle in the area of Westmorland and Dover Road by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. Upon approach the man dropped the bicycle and fled through yards on foot. Police located the man in the back yard of a Westmorland Street residence and took him into custody for trespass by night. During their investigation police also located several gold rings, a knife, gloves and flashlight. It was also learned that a residence on Joyce Street had been broken into. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM

            Cornwall, On – Tafari Arthur, 29 of Montreal was arrested on July 19th, 2014 and charged with assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 19th, 2014 while working at a local bar as security the man punched a 19-year-old Green Valley man in the mouth causing the man to lose consciousness and breaking a tooth. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 19th, 2014 police located the man at his place of work and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court at a later date.

BREACH, ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY, BREAK AND ENTER

            Cornwall, ON – Kyle Dewar, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on July 20th, 2014 and charged with breach of recognizance for being out past curfew, escape lawful custody and break and enter. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 20th, 2014 during a traffic stop in the area of Thirteenth Street and Cumberland Street the man fled on foot after police advised him that he would be taken into custody for breaching his curfew. He was later located hiding in a shed behind a Fifteenth Street address and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

            Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 19th, 2014 and charged with two counts of threats. It is alleged that on July 11th, 2014 the man sent a Facebook message threatening to have someone punch out his 12-year-old daughter for shooting her mouth off. The man then sent a text message stating he was going to smash his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend’s car. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 19th, 2014 during a traffic stop in the area of Brookdale Avenue the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – On July 20th, 2014 a 16-year-old Ingleside youth and a 14-year-old Cornwall youth were arrested for being in the company of each other despite being on conditions not to associate with each other and for failing to keep the peace. The Ingleside youth was also charged with being within the city of Cornwall despite being on conditions not to attend. It is alleged that on July 20th, 2014 police found the two in the company of each other while at the Bandshell. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for bail. Their names were not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

            Cornwall, ON – Jamie Cameron, 28 of Cornwall was arrested on July 21st, 2014 on the strength of a committal warrant for driving offences. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 21st, 2014 the man was spotted walking on McConnell Avenue by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service and investigation revealed that there was a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held in custody.
