CFN – Whenever you start a season on the road and snatch 6 points on 3 come back wins you know something special is brewing. Yes, it’s only three games and the season is long; but all the indicators are looking great. Montreal’s best are leading the way and Tomas Plekanec, thanks tot he edition of Manny Malhotra is getting more offensive action and has an actual strong wing to play with as Alex Galchenyuk is off to a strong start.
Plecky has 4 goals and 9 SOG so far into the season. Newcomer PA Parenteau has 3 assists. Andrei Markov is leading the team with a +5 and 3 points as well. PK Subban is leading the team with 12 shots and 9 hits. Tom Gilbert has blocked 10 shots. Malhotra is eating up PK time and is winning over 60% of his face offs.
And all that is with the Desharnais Pacioretty line not firing yet. Jiri Sekac has been invisible so far as well.
Toronto is clearly having early difficulty as they fall to 0-2 scoring 5 times against 9 in their own net.
Vancouver is off to a 2-0 start although those wins were against the Oilers and Flames, and Minnesota is 2-0 with 8 goals for and ZERO against as they ride a very hot Zach Parise. Now that’s domination.
Colorado is the opposite scoring zero goals and giving up 8 after two games.
Cup champs LA Kings are 0-2 after making very few moves in the off season.
New Jersey, with an ancient forward corps is tied for second with 11 goals so far in 2014/15 with Mike Cammalleri leading the way with 3.
