Press Release

On December 29th, Brockville Police stopped a motor vehicle on King St. for a traffic violation.
An 18 year old, local male and his 18 year old passenger were found to be in possession of an illegal substance.

As a result, the passenger was charged with a possession of the substance and the driver was issued several traffic related tickets.

On December 28th, Brockville Police responded to a theft complaint at the Superstore on Parkedale Ave.
An unknown male attended the store and removed a television. He had left the area prior to Police arrival. The investigation is continuing. Police are following up on leads.

On December 28th, Brockville Police received a complaint of a suspicious male in the area of St. John Bosco Church on Windsor Dr.

A 14 year old, local male was approached by an adult male who made inappropriate comments towards the youth. The unknown male is described as white, approximately 5’ 8” tall wearing a brown work type jacket, blue jeans and white running shoes. He had shoulder length red curly hair, wearing a ball cap and carrying a white plastic grocery bag. There was minor contact at one point when the male tried to get the youth’s attention by grabbing his coat.
The investigation is ongoing.

On December 27th, Brockville Police responded to the Superstore on Parkedale Ave. in regards to a shoplifting complaint.

A local, 68 year old female was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000.00 She was released at the scene with a future court date.

On December 27th, Brockville Police noted a male party, who was under court conditions to report to Police, failed to do so the day prior.

A local, 28 year old male was arrested and charged with Breaching two conditions of his Recognizance. He was released from the Brockville Police station with a future court date.

On December 27th, Brockville Police responded to a disturbance outside of the Keystorm Pub.

Two males were removed from the bar for fighting. They started their dispute again outside the establishment. The local 21 year old and 22 year old males face possible charges and the investigation is continuing. One of the males suffered minor injuries as a result. He was treated and released from the Brockville General Hospital.

December 26th, Brockville Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle and occupants in a north end parking lot.

One of the occupants had a warrant outstanding for him out of the Kingston area. The local, 33 year old was arrested and turned over to their Police Service.

On December 23rd, Brockville Police responded to motor vehicle collision at Ford and Water Street.

The driver of a motor vehicle east bound on Water St. failed to negotiate the turn to proceed north bound on Ford St. and struck the retaining wall of a residence. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The investigation continued and police located the responsible vehicle at an apartment building in the south end of town. Police dealt with a man and woman who share the vehicle but could not put either one behind the wheel for the accident. The male party was however on conditions from outstanding charges where conditions were put in place. He was also on outstanding conditions of Probation.

The local, 54 year old male was arrested and charged with three counts of breach in regards to his probation order and three breaches of his undertaking conditions. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

The retaining was not damaged but the vehicle suffered front end damage.

On December 23rd, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment in the center area of the city.

A local, 44 year old male was intoxicated within his residence and engaged in a dispute with his common law partner. The dispute turned physical and he ended up assaulting her. Police arrested and charged the male with Assault and he will attend a bail hearing.

The victim suffered no injuries as a result of the assault.

On December 23rd, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in the center of the city.

A 22 year old, local male, attended the residence of an ex-girlfriend where an altercation between the two went from verbal to physical. The suspect also became physical with a female neighbour who attended to assist. Police located the male a short distance away exiting his vehicle and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was issued a 72 hour licence suspension after registering a warn on a roadside screening device. The male was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault.

The victims suffered no injuries. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

The Brockville Police are asking for the public’s assistance in solving a break and enter which occurred late Sunday( December 21st) afternoon or evening hours in the city’s west end. Sometime between 3pm and 11pm on Sunday thieves entered the victim’s residence located in the area of King Street West and Cedar Streets. While inside the residence the thieves made off with camera equipment, china, 42” and a 37” television sets, computer and computer equipment, power tools, and alcohol.

The Brockville Police are quite concerned about traffic volume in the area of the Rail Road line on Parkedale Ave.

Holiday shopping is causing congestion that has caused stop and go traffic. We are noticing vehicles are close to getting stuck on the tracks waiting for vehicles in front of them. Police are asking people to use common sense and good judgment. Do not cross the tracks unless you are very confident that there is room for your vehicle on the opposite side.

This problem will exist over the Holiday Season!!

On December 21st, Brockville Police responded to a theft from vehicle complaint in the Center/East portion of the city.

A window had been smashed out of the vehicle and items removed. Police took two of these similar type incidents which took place during overnight hours on Saturday.

A reminder to not leave valuables in plain sight at any time when your vehicle is unattended. If you were a victim of this type of crime over the weekend, please contact us. It helps to aid in the investigation of responsible parties. The investigation continues for responsible parties.

On December 21st, Brockville Police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a residence in the north end of the city.

A 53 year old, local male had attended the home of a past partner. However, the male was under release conditions not to be near that residence. The male, who was intoxicated at the time, was arrested and charged with two counts of Breaching his Undertaking. Access to the residence was never gained and no contact took place between the complainant and the accused.

He was released with a future court date when sober.

On December 20th, Brockville Police responded to a complaint of persons trying to smuggle drugs in to the Brockville Jail.

Police seized both tobacco and a quantity of a controlled substance. Police do have a suspect and the investigation is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time pending the investigation.

On December 20th, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute in the King St. W. area.

As a result of investigating the complaint, domestic related charges were laid. A local, 22 year old male was arrested and charged with Assault, Mischief and Breach of Probation. The 23 year old, female victim did not require medical attention. The accused was released on conditions with a future court date.

On December 20th, Brockville Police were in the King St. W. area and noted an intoxicated female drawing attention to herself.

The 19 year old, local female was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. She was released when sober with a fine.

On December 19th, Brockville Police responded to a report of male parties inside the Trinity Church on George St.

The abandoned church is slated for demolition and not a safe place to be. Two local males, aged 14 and 15 years were spoken to in regards to their actions. They will not face charges.

On December 19th, Brockville Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Market St. W.

A tractor trailer had slipped out of the parking gear and mounted a brick wall at that location.
No injuries were reported. The 44 year old, owner of the truck was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and issued a fine.

On December 17th, Brockville Police were on general patrol travelling through the Wal-Mart parking lot on Parkedale Ave.

Police observed a male party in the company of a female minor. We were aware that due to past criminal convictions, this was in violation of probation conditions. The local, 23 year old was arrested and charged with two counts of Breach of Probation. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

On December 17th, Brockville Police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart on King St. W. in regards to an unwanted male.

The subject was drunk and causing problems for staff and patrons, throwing things around. A local, 50 year old male was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. He was released when sober and issued a fine.

On December 17th, Brockville Police responded to Broad St. Billiards on King St. W. in regards to a fight in progress.

A local, 28 year old male was involved with another 28 year old male in a physical altercation. One of the males suffered a cut to his face during the incident when struck with a glass. He received medical attention and was later released to Police custody.
Another local, 27 year old, tried to stop Police during the arrest process of his friend. He was charged with Obstruct Police. This male was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance when searched after his arrest.

The two original combatants were charged with Causing a Disturbance by Fighting and released with conditions until their future court date. The third male was charged with Obstructing Police and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was released on conditions and given a future court date.

On December 17th, Brockville Police had been searching for a local, 30 year old male who failed to attend for his weekend sentence at the Brockville Jail on December 5th.
The subject was located around midnight and arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant.
He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

On December 15th, Brockville Police responded to a working fire at a north end apartment complex.

Police and the Brockville Fire Department evacuated the building. With help from the Red Cross and the Victim Assistance Program, residents will be relocated until they can return home. There was damage to one of the units and heavy smoke affected many others. One 58 year old female is receiving medical treatment for her injuries. The investigation is ongoing and no other details will be released at this time.

On December 13th, Brockville Police conducted a RIDE program, stopping approximately 200 vehicles.
No impaired driving charges were laid as a result. Most sober drivers were issued a Tim Horton’s card for a free coffee.

This “Operation Red Nose” operates with support from our local Tim Horton’s stores and is very well received!!

On December 12th, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at a north end apartment complex.

The argument turned out to be verbal in nature. While at the residence however, police discovered a large quantity of an illegal drug. The drugs were seized and charges are still pending. The male and female occupants, both 21 years of age, await the outcome of the investigation.

On December 12th, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in the center of town.

The dispute became very heated as well as physical. A local, 23 year old female was arrested and charged with assault and Utter Threats. The involved male, 41 years of age was arrested and charged with Assault, Utter Threats and Breaching his release conditions from previous charges.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Injuries to both parties were minimal.

A local, 55 year old was located in the area by Police and was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was released with a fine when sober.

On December 11th, Brockville Police took a theft complaint regarding items taken from a vehicle.

A subcontractor for Bell Canada parked a boom truck outside the area of the Phoenix Bar. He returned later to find locks cut off the vehicle and tools taken including a chainsaw, gas drill, and one item valued at $5000.00 alone. The vehicle would have actually been parked on Wednesday evening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brockville Police Service.
