BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old Cornwalll man was arrested on April 16^th, 2015 and charged with breach of recognizance for being at his ex-wife’s place of work. It is alleged that on April 15^th, 2015 the man attended his ex-wife’s place of work and police were contacted to investigate. On April 16^th, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 16^th, 2015 and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief. It is alleged that during an argument with his 24-year-old girlfriend on April 16^th, 2015 the man struck her with a wooden plaque causing the plaque to break. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

DRUG WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Daniel Villeneuve, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on April 16^th, 2015 and charged with the following:

• Possession of Marihuana
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Marihuana
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine
• Possession of Cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine.’
• Possession of MDMA
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking MDMA

It is alleged that on April 16th, 2015 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a drug warrant at a Lefebvre Street address and located a quantity of marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine and MDMA. As a result of the warrant Villeneuve was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, BREACH, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 15^th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that during the month of March, 2015 the man entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, damaged a screen and removed some property without her permission. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 15^th, 2015 the man was spotted in the area of First Street and Augustus Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 15^th, 2015 and charged with assault, mischief and breach of undertaking for failing to follow house rules. It is alleged that during an argument on April 15^th, 2015 the youth pushed a 14-year-old youth and damaged a door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 15^th, 2015 and charged with breaching a recognizance for being out past curfew and being within 250 meters of where is ex-girlfriend might be. It is alleged that on April 15^th, 2015 the man was found to be within the restricted distance of his ex-girlfriends place of work and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DRUG WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – William Poitras, 59 of Cornwall was arrested on April 14^th, 2015 and charged with possession of Nabilone, possession of Nabilone for the purpose of trafficking and breach of recognizance for having prescription medicine that was not subscribed to him and communicating with someone who has a criminal record. It is alleged that on April 14^th, 2015 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a warrant at a Pitt Street address and found the man to be in possession of a controlled substance and breaching his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Ottawa Police Service

On April 16^th 2015, at 10:25am, an Ottawa Police officer was flagged down by an employee of a car dealership near Bank St and Rideau Rd. after he observed two suspects attempting to steal a vehicle in the lot. The officer approached the suspects at which time they left in the stolen vehicle. The vehicle made contact with the officer’s leg as the suspects fled.

Officers pursued the vehicle until the pursuit was terminated on Mitch Owens, East of Bank Street. The abandoned stolen vehicle was later located on Pana Road. A Canine officer and his police service dog attended and conducted a tracking, which led to the suspects. Both were arrested without incident in a wooded area south east of the stolen vehicle’s location.

Gordon CRAIG, (m) 43 y.o., a federal parolee, is charged with the following offences;

• Assault with a weapon
• Theft of a motor Vehicle
• Possess Property or things obtained by crime
• Failure to stop for police/pursuit
• Disqualified operation of a motor vehicle
• Assault
• Forcible confinement
• Possess break-in instrument
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• Possess property or things obtained by crime under $5000
• Uttering threats/death or bodily harm

CRAIG has been held for a Bail Hearing. The female who was arrested with CRAIG was released without charge.

The investigation is still ongoing by East District Investigators.

OPP

ROAD CLOSURES DUE TO GRASS FIRE.  (INITIAL)
(Township of Lanark Highlands, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are currently establishing road closures and detours in the Township of Lanark Highlands to assist local Fire Departments who are fighting a grass fire.

Ferguson Falls Road (County Road 15) is currently closed in the east at Pinegrove Road (County 12) and Highway 511 in the west.

Drivers are requested to avoid the area if at all possible. Initial reports indicated that smoke was a hazard on the road.

A detour is in place for east and west bound traffic along Pinegrove Road between the intersections of Ferguson Falls Road and Highway 511 and Fergusons Falls Road and Pinegrove Road.

These initial detours and closures may be subject to change as the incident evolves.
