Another Sexual Assault in Cornwall Ontario – POLICE BLOTTER May 8, 2015 #CCPS #OPP

Cornwall, ON – Travis Moore, 22 and Justin Julien, 19 both of Cornwall were arrested and charged with public mischief. It is alleged that on April 14th, 2015 police were contacted to investigate break and enter at a Gulf Street address. During their investigation it was learned that the break and enter was staged and as a result both men were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

 

ASSAULT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 7th, 2015 and charged with three counts of assault and three counts of breach of recognizance for communicating with someone he has conditions not to communicate with, consuming alcohol and for being out of his residence. It is alleged that between May 5th and May 7th, 2015 the man assaulted his 35-year-old girlfriend on three separate occasions and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

SEXUAL ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – Anthony Smythe, 60 of Cornwall was arrested on May 7th, 2015 and charged with sexual assault. It is alleged that on April 5th, 2015 the man sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman that was known to him and police were contacted to investigate. On May 7th, 2015 the man was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service walking on Burton Street. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER

 

Cornwall, ON – Shamus Berrigan, 21 of Morrisburg was arrested on May 7th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on May 7th, 2015 the man attended a Ninth Street store and selected merchandise making no attempt to pay for it as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 2nd, 2015.

ASSAULT, THREATS, MISCHIEF, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 5th, 2015 and charged with mischief, threats, assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during an argument with his 22-year-old common-law wife on May 5th, 2015 the man damaged some interior doors, slashed her car tires and threatened to harm her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the man also assaulted his 3-year-old son. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

 

DANGEROUS DRIVING, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Ryan Fortier, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on May 5th, 2015 and charged with dangerous driving and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 5th, 2015 the man was spotted driving a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner on Fifth Street and Adolphus Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court onJune2nd, 2015.

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS, ON) – On May 6, 2015 at approximately 3:30 pm the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a horse which was reported stolen to the Ottawa Police had been located by the owner at a property on Water Street in Almonte.

Police attended the scene and located the horse and arrested two people.  The horse which is valued at approximately $15000 was returned to the owner.

As a result of the investigation Jason DELORME age 34 of Ottawa, ON and Rachelle GIFF-JESSUP age 27 of Mississippi Mills, ON are both charged with Possession of Stolen Property – Over $5000.  Both were released on an Appearance Notice for Perth Court on June 9, 2015.

4 charged – thousands of dollars’ worth of property recovered

(South Dundas & Edwardsburgh Townships) – Following an ongoing investigation into several reported break-ins occurring during the month of April in South Dundas Township, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) and Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit members have arrested and charged four adults. Criminal Code of Canada search warrants were executed at two residences in Edwardsburgh Township resulting in several items of stolen property recovered; consisting of drugs, assorted electronics, hunting equipment, hand/power tools, lawn tractor/gardening products and cash.

Allan ROBINSON (42) of Edwardsburgh Township is charged with;

– Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence (4 counts)
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (4 counts)
– Mischief Under $5000 (2 counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on June 9, 2015.
Patricia MELLON (36) of Cardinal, Ontario is charged with;

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on June 9, 2015.
Christos VALAVERIS (50) of Prescott, Ontario is charged with;

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
Tara MCENANEY (41) of Prescott, Ontario is charged with;

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on June 5, 2015.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(South Stormont) – On May 6, 2015 at approximately 10:36pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a breach of conditions incident at a residence on Piercy Street, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated an adult male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

Tyler LALONDE (18) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts) – non communication/possession of electronic device

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (07May15).
INDECENT ACT

(South Glengarry) – On May 4, 2015 at approximately 6:14pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an indecent act incident. Investigation indicated that an adult male driver had been observed performing an indecent act while driving on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township.

Shawn MCGREGOR (33) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Indecent Act – Public Place

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on June 10, 2015.

 

ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE COLLISION

(North Glengarry) – On May 7, 2015 at approximately 12:39am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) collision at a property on County Road 43, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a 57-year-old male from North Glengarry Twonship suffered serious injuries while operating the ATV. He was taken to hospital.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

PROJECT PARADIGM IS A DRUG ENFORCEMENT TEAM COMPRISED OF OFFICERS FROM THE ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT AND OPP DETACHMENTS IN EASTERN ONTARIO

DRUG CHARGES LAID AFTER SEARCH OF RESIDENCE

(Perth, Ontario) – On Wednesday May 6, 2015 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Unit (East), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team and members of the Lanark County OPP detachment conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.) investigation and executed a Section 11 CDSA Search Warrant at a residence on Wilson Street West, Perth, Ontario.

At the conclusion of the search police located and seized:

Cocaine

Marihuana
Canadian Currency

Drug trafficking items

Totaling an approximately street value of $1500

As a result of this investigation the following charges were laid:

James LARMON 26, Mitchell BEAUDOIN 20, and Matthew ROGERS 28 all from Perth were each charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance, cocaine. They were released on a Promise to Appear and an OIC Undertaking.  First appearance is scheduled for Monday June 29, 2015 in Perth.

Richard BONSELAAR 22 of Perth was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance, cocaine and Possession of a Schedule II Substance, Marihuana, under 30 grams. He was released on a Promise to Appear and an OIC Undertaking.  First appearance is scheduled for Monday June 29th, 2015 in Perth.

Victoria RINGER 27 of Perth was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance, Marihuana, under 30 grams. He was released on a Promise to Appear and an OIC Undertaking.  First appearance is scheduled for Monday June 29th, 2015 in Perth.

On May 4, 2015  at approximately 4:45 pm  officers from the Prescott OPP were made aware of suspicious persons on Churchill Rd. in the Town of Prescott at the Sarah Spencer Park.

It was reported to police that a 9 year old along with other children at the park were freighted when two adults, one male and one female began talking to them, asking them all sorts of questions and making them feel very uncomfortable.

Police were provided a good description of both adults who were located and spoken with shortly afterwards.

Police are encouraging parents to speak with their children about how to handle these types of situations. In this case the children immediately did the right thing because they felt uncomfortable with the situation. They left the park and returned home, provided a good description, told their parents and reported it to the police.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

(South Glengarry) – On May 4, 2015 at approximately 2:42pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Concession Road 9, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted.

The 56-year-old male from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 26, 2015.

BREAK-IN/THEFT

(South Glengarry) – Overnight (May 03-04, 2015) a commercial building was entered at a property on Richmond Road, South Glengarry Township. Inside, a quantity of copper wire was stolen.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(Hawkesbury, ON) –  In the evening of  Saturday May 2nd, 2015, shortly before 9pm, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Marc Lauzon investigated a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Aberdeen street in the Town of Hawkesbury

A citizen called in to report that a beige Chevrolet Avalanche was driven erratically on Aberdeen Street.

The officer caught up with the driver who was standing beside his vehicle on Dufferin Street.
Interaction with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.

The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

Gérald JEAN-LOUIS  (76 yrs) of Hawkesbury, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b)  – Blood Alcohol Content  Exceed 80 Milligrams and section 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

He was later released on a promise to appear in court on May 20, 2015 in L’Orignal.

(Hawkesbury, ON) –  In the early morning of Sunday May 3rd, 2015, shortly before 1:30 am, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Simon Boudreau intercepted a 2001 dark blue Ford Explorer on Sinclair Street in the Town of Hawkesbury in order to check on the sobriety of the driver.
The traffic stop investigation gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.

The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.

During the arrest, a small amount of Marijuana was found on the driver.

Stéphane MÉNARD  (41 yrs) of Hawkesbury, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b)  – Blood Alcohol Content  Exceed 80 Milligrams

The driver was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 4(1) for Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams.

The driver had a novice driver licence.  Consequently, he was charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act with section 44.1(3) Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

He was later released on a promise to appear in court on May 20, 2015 in L’Orignal.

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) –  In the early morning of Sunday May 3rd, 2015, shortly before 4:30 am, Hawkesbury OPP Constables Patrick Spooner and Jean-Michel Cormier  intercepted a 2013  Mazda CX5 on Lajoie Street in the village of Lefaivre.
The traffic stop gave the officers reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.

The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.

During the investigation, an open container with an alcoholic beverage was found in the driver’s possession.

Lynne BERCIER  (41 yrs) of Alfred, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b)  – Blood Alcohol Content  Exceed 80 Milligrams

She was also charged under the Ontario Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor .

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

She was later released on a promise to appear in court on May 27, 2015 in L’Orignal.
