OPP INVESTIGATE DEATH OF DIVER
(Brockville, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after the death of a diver in the St. Lawrence River on Sunday July 20.
OPP officers responded to assist at approximately 2pm with Leeds and Greenville EMS to a report of a diver being pulled unconscious from the water near Sparrow Island. The male was brought to St Lawrence Park where he was transported by paramedics to hospital, where he was declared deceased. He has been identified at Raymond BLOCH 55 of Tecumseh, Ont.
The Ontario Office of the Chief Coroner is leading the investigation. It is unknown at this time whether the death is related to the scuba diving, or a medical cause. A post mortem examination is scheduled for Monday July 21 in Ottawa.
