OPP CHARGE U.S. MAN WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENCES
(Lansdowne, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Leeds County OPP Detachment have charged a Georgia man following a child pornography investigation.
On August 31, 2015 members of the CBSA at the Port of Lansdowne conducted a search of a male entering Canada, pursuant to the Customs Act. As a result of the search, the male was found in possession of child sexual abuse material on a hand held cellular device. He was subsequently arrested and the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit was notified to assist with the investigation.
Robert GYAMFI, 51 years old of Douglasville, Georgia is charged with one count of Importing Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was also charged with three offences committed against the Customs Act related to the importation of this prohibited material.
The accused was held in custody, scheduled to attend a bail hearing today on September 3, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
