Assault & Fraud in Cornwall Ontario – Police Blotter for NOV 30, 2014 CCPS OPP

THEFT UNDER $5000, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Cody Burelle, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on November 27th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and mischief. It is alleged the man removed property that did not belong to him from a residence on Marlborough Street and also caused damage to a shed door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 27th, 2015 the man was located at his residence, taken into custody and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2015.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Scott Morris, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on November 27th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 27th, 2015 the man attended a Ninth Street store and removed merchandise making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. The man was stopped by police, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2015.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Carlton Mitchell, 51 of Cornwall was arrested on November 27th, 2015 and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument on November 27th, 2015 the man struck another man with a metal pipe causing the man to seek medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation Mitchell was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT POLICE

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 27th, 2015 and charged with assault and assault police. It is alleged during an argument on November 27th, 2015 the man struck his 58-year-old common-law wife if the face and police were contacted to investigate. The man was later located, taken into custody and during the process spat on an officer. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – Renee Leblanc, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on November 28th, 2015 and charged with assault with a weapon and assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged during an argument in the early morning hours of November 28th, 2015 the woman struck another woman known to her over the head with a wine bottle causing her to seek medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2015.

RESIST ARREST, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Shane Riopelle, 34 of Cornwall was arrested on November 28th, 2015 and charged with breach of recognizance for being outside his residence with alcohol in his body and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 28th, 2015the man had been outside his residence after having consumed alcohol and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Kanata man was arrested on November 28th, 2015 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on November 28th, 2015 the man bit his 31-year-old partner and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Kathleen Papineau, 35 of Akwesesne was arrested on November 29th, 2015 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged in the early morning hours of November 29th, 2015 the woman was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol when she was stopped at the port of entry. Police were contacted and took the woman into custody. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 8th, 2015.

FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Peggy Chorazy, 49 and Mark MacGregor, 50 both of Cornwall were both arrested on November 26th, 2015 and charged with fraud under $5000 and uttering forged documents. It is alleged they both applied for various credit cards using someone else’s name and police were contacted to investigate. On November 26th, 2015 both MacGregor and Chorazy attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 29th, 2015.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Berry, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on November 26th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on September 28th, 2015 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed clothing making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for Berry’s arrest. On November 26th, 2015 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted the man riding a bicycle in the area of First Street and Alice Street. Berry was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court at a later date.

OPP

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Glengarry) – On November 29, 2015 at approximately 11:36am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 19, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her ex-spouse resulted in the female causing damage to a vehicle.

The 54-year-old female was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 15. 2015. Her name was not released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Dundas) – On November 28, 2015 at approximately 10:31pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) spot checks at the intersection of Carman Road and County Road 18, South Dundas Township. A check of a vehicle revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Further information indicated he was in contravention of a condition (alcohol consumption) stemming from a previous incident.

Justin YOUNG (22) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired
– Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (30Nov15).

 

FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION

(South Glengarry) – On November 28, 2015 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a collision on Glen Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that on November 27, 2015 between 8:00 – 9:00 pm, an unknown vehicle (suspected Sports Utility Vehicle) lost control travelling east striking several mailboxes and a telephone service box and fled the scene.

An investigation continues.

 

BREAK INS – THEFTS

(North Stormont) – On November 27, 2015 at approximately 3:16am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a property (Tagwi High School) on County Road 43, North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that the building was forcibly entered. A black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) pulling a black enclosed trailer was observed leaving the scene. Welding equipment was removed from inside.
(South Stormont) – Between November 21-28, 2015, a property (Air Cadet Camp) located on Fran Laflamme Drive, South Stormont Township was forcibly entered. Quantities of hand tools were taken.
(North Dundas) – Between November 21-28, 2015, a garage at a property on Ormond Road, North Dundas Township was entered. Quantities of hand tools were taken.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [GRENVILLE COUNTY (Kemptville)] O.P.P. WEEKLY REPORT – Kemptville 2015-11-30

(Kemptville, ON.) – Between November 23rd and November 29th, the Kemptville Office of North Grenville Ontario Provincial Police investigated 72 general occurrences: 30 Kemptville, 28 Municipality of North Grenville, 11 Village of Merrickville – Wolford and 3 on Highway 416.

Sometime during 5:00 p.m. on November 23rd  and 6:45 a.m. on November 24, 2015 a vehicle was stolen from KingEx Landscaping located on County Road 44 in North Grenville. The vehicle is described as a 2005 grey GMC Sierra pickup truck with Ontario marker KINGEX1. The investigation is ongoing.

During the early morning of November 28th, a home owner on St. Lawrence Street in Merrickville observed a male inside of her parked vehicle. The male was scared off by the homeowner and was last seen running down Bruce Street East. Several hours later the homeowner discovered that a Canon camera had been stolen. Police are reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked at all times and their valuables in a safe place. If you see a crime in progress, call the police immediately.

BREAK-IN/ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

(North Glengarry) – On November 29, 2015 at approximately 7:00pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, assisted by OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine members responded to a report of a break & enter in progress at a residence on Tobin Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicated that home owners confronted a lone male in the residence upon their return from an outing. The suspect brandished a metal object and struck one of the occupants. She was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as male, approximately 5’10, slim build, wearing dark clothing, gloves and mask.

THEFT OF SNOW PLOW

(North Glengarry) – On November 26, 2015 – Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a snow plow stolen overnight (November 25-26) at the North Glengarry Township garage on Concession 4. The item is described as a “Carmichael” brand 8’ stainless aluminum plow.

An investigation continues.

BREAK-IN/THEFTS

(North Glengarry) – On November 25, 2015 – Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a report of a break-in at a residence on County Road 43, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that on the above noted date, between 7:40am and 5:00pm, culprit(s) forcibly entered the home and removed a quantity of jewellery and clothing items.

(South Dundas) – On November 25, 2015 at approximately 3:30pm, a snowsuit was removed from the clothesline at a property on County Road 4 (Mariatown), South Dundas Township. The item is described as an xxl snowsuit, navy blue with red stripping.

Investigations continue on the above incidents.
