Mop Throwing in Cornwall Ontario – Christmas Eve Police Blotter 2015 CCPS OPP

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Three Cornwall youths aged 14, 16 and 17 were arrested on December 23rd, 2015 and charged with assault. It is alleged on December 22nd, 2015 while in the area of Holly Cross Boulevard and Anthony Street they assaulted a 20-year-old man by way of pushing him around and police were contacted to investigate. On December 23rd, 2015 all three youths attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Their names were not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

UTTER FORGED DOCUMENTS

Cornwall, ON – Meagan Dagg, 23 of North Bay was arrested on December 23rd, 2015 and charged with uttering forged documents. It is alleged in February, 2015 the woman cashed forged cheques and police were contacted to investigate. On December 23rd, 2015 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 28th, 2016.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 24th, 2015 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, threats and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument in the early morning hours of December 24th, 2015 the man punched his 44-year-old girlfriend, threw a mop at her and threatened to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 22nd, 2015 and charged with breaching his youth probation order and undertaking for having consumed alcohol. He was also charged with failing to keep the peace on his probation order. It is alleged on December 22nd, 2015 the man had passed out on a city bus and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as the conditions stem from when the man was charged as a youth.

 

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 23rd, 2015 and charged with breaching a recognizance for being out past curfew and two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in the early morning hours of December 23rd, 2015 the youth was found to be out past curfew when he was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of Ellen Avenue. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

UTTER FORGED DOCUMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – Jennifer Baker, 32 of Cornwall was arrested on December 22nd, 2015 and charged with uttering forged documents. It is alleged during 2015 the woman submitted forged medical notes to her employer and police were contacted to investigate. On December 22nd, 2015 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 19th, 2016.

BREACH

James Wilson, 36 of Cornwall was arrested on December 21st, 2015 and charged with breach of recognizance. It is alleged the man failed to attend scheduled appointments as per his conditions and police were called to investigate. On December 21st, 2015 the man was located at his residence, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Angel Dore, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on December 21st, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 14th, 2015 the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue store and removed bottles of alcohol making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 21st, 2015 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 19th, 2016.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [GRENVILLE COUNTY (Kemptville)] Theft at Construction Site 2015-12-23

(Kemptville, Ont.) – Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police would once again like to remind the public to call immediately any time they observe suspicious activity in their community with special attention to construction sites during non-working hours.

During midnight and 8:00 a.m. on December 19th, a new subdivision under construction in Pelton’s Corners, North Grenville was targeted. Culprit(s) broke into a locked container and stole a Honda lawnmower and a Noma snow blower. The investigation is ongoing.

MISCHIEF INVESTIGATIONS

(North Dundas) – On December 21, 2015 at approximately 12:12pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Bailey Avenue, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between family members resulted in a male youth causing damage within the home.

The 16-year-old was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on February 2, 2016. His name is not being released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
(South Dundas) – On December 21, 2015 at approximately 9:03pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a reported domestic situation at a residence on Broadway Crescent, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his spouse resulted in the male causing damage within the home.

The 34-year-old was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief – Domestic

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 12, 2016. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 686 calls for service from Sunday, November 29th to Saturday, December 19th.  Among those occurrences were; false 9-1-1 calls, domestic disputes, threat, theft, fraud, bail violation, drug offences and four impaired drivers.

As a result of those occurrences, three females and 13 males were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Russell County OPP officers investigated 17 domestic disputes during the past weeks. Three males were charged with three counts of spousal assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of domestic mischief, two counts of criminal harassment and five counts of uttering threats.

Impaired Driver

Russell County OPP conducted 48 R.I.D.E programs; Chad Mentus, age 19 of Embrun;  Alexis Martineau, age 37 of Ottawa; Robert Hudon, age 57 of Rockland; and Robert Wayne Sauve age 34 of Rockland, were arrested on separate incidents and charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol and/or care or control. They were released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal in January 2016.

At approximately 12:20pm, on Friday December 18, 2015 Russell County officers were dispatched to a road-rage incident in Rockland. Provincial Constable Bernard Montpetit arrested the male driver after failing the roadside alcohol screening test.  Following his breath tests at the detachment, David Cormack, aged 39 of Rockland, was charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol, dangerous operation of motor vehicle and two count of fail to comply with his undertaking.  He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal, ON in January 13th, 2016.

Traffic violation

On December 11th, Provincial Constable Sean Byrne was conducting radar enforcement on South Russell Road. He arrested and charged a male, aged 58 of Ottawa, for racing at a speed of 125km/h in the posted 50km/h school zone.  His vehicle was impounded and his driver licences was suspended.

  1. People are getting wackier and wackier all the time – this time throwing mops. It used to be throwing paper towels and grass clippings – open up the psychiatric wing pronto – a huge emergency – you can’t wait any longer. That is what happens when you live in Fossoli aka Cornwall Ontario.
