Another Impaired Driver Charge in South Stormont #OPP Jan 27, 2016

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Stormont) – On January 26, 2016 at approximately 11:23pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on St-Laurent Street, South Stormont Township. The stop revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Mark CUILLERIER (50) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with Ability Impaired
– Drive a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 11, 2016.

ASSAULT

(South Dundas) – On January 25, 2016 at approximately 2:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault which had occurred at a property on Beach Avenue, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two (2) male youths resulted in one assaulting the other.

A 13-year-old from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault Causing Bodily Harm

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 18, 2016. His name is being withheld as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 207 calls for service from Sunday, January 17th to Saturday, January 23rd.   Among those occurrences were the following; domestic disputes, threats, weapons related incidences, frauds, thefts, drug offences and one impaired related incident.

As a result of those occurrences, one female and 8 males were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Russell County OPP officers investigated 7 domestic disputes during the past week. A male from Ottawa was charged with domestic mischief after damaging his in-law’s residence during a dispute.

Alcohol related incident

In the afternoon of Sunday the 17th of January, Provincial Constable Luc Turgeon was dispatched to a fail to remain accident at the intersection of Concession Street and Craig Street in Russell. The suspect and suspect vehicle was located by Sergeant Rene Cadieux in the ditch on north Russell Road near Burton Road.  The male driver; Robert John Cole, aged 42 of Ottawa  was charged with impaired driving by drug, resist arrest and theft under $5000.  He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on February 3rd.  He was charged under the Highway traffic act for drive while under suspension and fail to remain. Cole was also served an offence notice for Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Act.

On Monday the 18th of January,   Provincial Constable Sean Byrne was on general patrol when he came upon a vehicle stuck in the snow.  As the vehicle was finally pushed out of the ditch successfully, the female driver hugged the officer and the officer detected an odour of alcohol.  Following breath tests at the detachment, Mary Ann McNulty, aged 49 of Russell was charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80mgs of alcohol.

On Saturday the 23rd of January, OPP received a report of a swerving vehicle on Highway 417.  Provincial Constable Karim Davis located the vehicle in the ditch.  The male driver refused to provide a sample of his breath, as requested by the officer. Bun Koeurt Nay, aged 40 of Casselman, was charged with Refuse to Provide a Sample.  He was released on a promise to appear for court in L’Orignal on February 3rd.
