(Mallorytown, Ont.) – Leeds County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatality involving a motor vehicle colliding with a cyclist.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on April 23, 2016, the Leeds County Ontario Provincial Police, Emergency Medical Service and Front of Yonge Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 2, east of County Road 5 in Front of Yonge Township.
The investigation revealed a 2004 Buick Rendezvous was traveling westbound on County Road 2 when it struck a cyclist in the travel portion of the highway.
The driver of the Buick, a 56 year old female from Front of Yonge Township was not injured.
The cyclist 27 year old Thomas John SMITH from Brockville was transported by ambulance to hospital with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at hospital.
