ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, POSSESSION OF A PROHIBITED DEVICE, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – James Atkinson, 31, Muhammed Chughtai, 27, Cory Leduc, 31 and Curtis Trudeau, 24 all of Cornwall were arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited device and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Atkinson was also charged with breaching an undertaking order, probation order and a prohibition order. Chughtai was additionally charged with breach of a prohibition order and Leduc with assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged during an argument on May 9th, 2016 the four men were in possession of a bat and a taser when a 22-year-old man known to them was truck in the arm with the bat. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the men were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Cody Burelle, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on May 20th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on May 1st, 2016 the man identified himself as another person when he was he was stopped by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He then ran from police and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man’s true identity was learned and he was found to be in breach of his probation order by being within 200 meters of a specific address. A warrant was obtained for his arrest and on May 20th, 2016 the man was located at a Lefebvre Street address. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Melanie Lepage, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on May 20th, 2016 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on May 20th, 2016 the woman was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on Ontario Street. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 2nd, 2016.
BREAK AND ENTER, SEXUAL ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, THREATS, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A PERSON UNDER SIXTEEN, INVITATION TO SEXUAL TOUCHING
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 22nd, 2016 and charged with the following:
- break and enter
- assault with a weapon
- possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- sexual assault on person under 16 years
- sexual interference with person under 16 years
- invitation to sexual touching
- utter threats to cause death
- utter threats to harm animal
It is alleged on May 21st, 2016 the man brandishing a knife entered a house without permission and sexually assaulted and threatened a 13-year-old youth who was known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 22nd, 2016 members of the OPP arrested the man on Cornwall’s charges and turned the man over to members of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it may identify the victim in the matter.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Daniel Ouellette, 61 of Cornwall was arrested on May 23rd, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for being outside his residence after having consumed alcohol and for being in possession of a weapon. It is alleged on May 23rd, 2016 police were contacted to investigate a disturbance at Ninth Street residence and upon arrival found the intoxicated man in breach of his conditions. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a razor blade. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
