“Gay spat”?!?? Are you kidding me? “Domestic disturbance” is fine. There is no reason other than ignorance to call it a “gay spat”. Educate your staff, for heaven’s sake.
You nailed it Brigid. No class at all.
Even more tasteless, archaeologists recently uncovered a headline chiseled in the Jerusalem Free News following Jonah’s run in with a great fish… Heterosexual Swallowed.
“Gay spat” What kind of reporting is this!! Give it a rest you homophobic looser! Won’t be reading anything on this site again!
Listen Catherine. As the only local media outlet that sponsored (that means GIVE FREE SUPPORT to those of you with low comprehension) Pride events, politically correct ninnies like yourself only hurt your cause, if in fact you have one. You need to take a deep look in the mirror and realize what a moron you are who feels that she has to try and tell anyone what to write.
Shame on you and anyone that thinks like yourself.
So I must be missing something regarding those that have taken offense at a headline…Why should homosexuals be treated differently than heterosexuals? Should people bury their heads in the sand and not call something that it is? Is it an intelligent decision for some to pretend that something being unstated actual changes reality? Political correctness is for spineless wimps, IMHO.
Good for you Jamie it is long past due that you stood up for yourself. I am sick of those losers in Cornhole who put you down. More than sick and you would never begin to believe how much I can’t stand the idiots down there. If you only knew.
Admin: Political correctness?? You sound like Donald Trump. First off, there was no need to indicate the sexual orientation of the couple involved in the domestic dispute. Secondly, the word “spat” is not an appropriate term to use to refer to a domestic disturbance. If you don’t understand why, I suggest you educate yourself.
Would people have read the article if it had said domestic disturbance?” I don’t think so. The job of a newspaper is to be read, not gather dust.
Brigid seems apparently the one that needs to come up to speed and climb out of the abyss of ignorance. Spat has several meanings one of which is a quarrel or argument that occurs between people i.e. right from the dictionary…”a lovers spat.” Lovers obviously can encompass any of Wynne’s 6 sexual orientations. Maybe more or less outside of Ontario.
