IMPAIRED DRIVERS
(North Glengarry) – On July 1, 2016 at approximately 6:35pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 22, North Glengarry Township. The stop revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Norman BANKLEY (55) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 10, 2016.
(South Dundas) – On July 3, 2016 at approximately 9:15am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Lightning Street, South Dundas Township. The stop revealed that the male driver was under the influence of a drug and provided false identification to police. A quantity of suspected marihuana was also seized.
The driver, Yussuf EL-ZEIN (25) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired by Drug
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Personation
– Obstruct Peace Officer
A male passenger, Jose RUBIO-FUENTES (32) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on August 9, 2016.
DRUGS SEIZED
(South Stormont) – On July 1, 2016 at approximately 5:26pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Dafoe Road, South Stormont Township. A quantity of suspected marihuana was seized from a female occupant of the vehicle.
Autumn KNOTT-MERKLEY (20) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on August 9, 2016.
(South Glengarry) – On July 3, 2016 at approximately 10:48pm, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and open alcohol. Illegal driving permits were also seized from the male driver.
Lyndon KINGSLEY (47) of Mississauga, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act – HTA)
– Speeding (HTA)
– Possess Illegal Licence (2 counts – HTA)
– Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (Liquor Licence Act – LLA)
A female passenger, Andrea HINSHELWOOD (48) of Mississauga, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
Both were released and scheduled to appear (drug charges) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 10, 2016.
FATAL COLLISION
(North Stormont) – On July 1, 2016 at approximately 3:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a collision at a residential property in North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that a recreational vehicle, driven by an 83-year-old male had struck a female pedestrian (family member). The 84-year-old female was taken to hospital and pronounced deceased of injuries sustained.
SD&G OPP assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are investigating, foul play is not suspected.
DOMESTIC INCIDENT
(North Dundas) – On July 1, 2016 at approximately 4:47pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 31, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and his girlfriend resulted in the male causing damage within the home. Upon arrest, the accused became resistant with police.
The 32-year-old male from North Dundas Township is charged with;
– Mischief – Domestic
– Resist Peace Officer
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 12, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
FAMILY DISPUTE
(North Dundas) – On July 4, 2016 at approximately 7:52am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male youth had assaulted an adult family member.
The 16-year-old was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
– Fail to Comply with Sentence (Youth Criminal Justice Act – YCJA)
He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld as per the provisions of the YCJA.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS
(South Glengarry) – On July 2, 2016 at approximately 10:19pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a female youth in contravention of several imposed conditions from previous incidents (obey house rules, curfew…etc). Further, while in police custody, the accused defaced the cell area at the police office.
The 16-year-old is charged with;
– Fail to Comply with Conditions (5 counts)
– Mischief Under $5000
She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. Her name is being withheld as per the provisions of the YCJA.
DAMAGE TO MAILBOXES & SIGNS
(South Stormont) – Overnight July 1-2, 2016, several mailboxes and traffic signs located on County Road 18 and Dixon Road were purposely damaged.
An investigation continues.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and HSD OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in the United Counties intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.
– July 1, 2016 – 7:38am (Highway 401-South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 158km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (24) from North York, Ontario charged accordingly.
– July 1, 2016 – 5:41pm (Highway 401-South Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 158km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (22) from Toronto, Ontario charged accordingly.
– July 2, 2016 – 5:42pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 153km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (19) from Ste-Anne de Prescott, Ontario charged accordingly.
– July 3, 2016 – 9:20pm (County Road 31-North Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 133km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (22) from Ottawa, Ontario charged accordingly.
