Ottawa Police charge Teacher with sex related offences involving a student
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section have charged a 32 year old Ottawa woman who was employed as a teacher, following an investigation into allegations that she was involved in a sexual relationship with one of her male students.
The investigation revealed the relationship began while the accused was in the course of her duties as a teacher, while employed by the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. The incidents occurred over the course of a year (2013-2014) and were reported to police this year.
On July 5th, 2016, the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit charged Kyla COWAN-WILSON, with Sexual Assault, Invitation to Sexual Touching and Sexual Interference. She is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
Investigators are concerned there could be more victims.
